Youthful Crushes

I suspect most of us had crushes when we were young.
I am not talking about movie stars or musicians but of people we knew.
And I suspect most of us had crushes on "older" folks.
We are now "older" so we can admit to it.

So who did you have a crush on?
A teacher or preacher or family friend?

Time to reflect back now -
What was it that attracted you to them?
Did you end up (if married) with someone with those qualities?

Please share - I do not want to be alone in this.
I was checking out the church directory of the church I just started attending.
And low and behold a name from the past - an "older" guy that I had a crush on.

Funny thing though as a teen I knew it was just "puppy love" and nothing was going to become of it.
But now the age difference is not so important.
I liked him because I did consider him a Godly man.
And he was good with children - he was divorced and had custody of his children including a baby.
I remember him driving me home from youth group. Nothing improper whatsoever.

I think my first crush was on my Daddy. Mom told me that I couldn't marry him though because he was taken

I know I had crushes but really can't remember many of them. I know one when I was a senior in high school there was a new teacher Mike Norton all the girls had crushes on him. Good thing I didn't have him as a teacher, I probably would have flunked that class.

I remember in junior high all the girl basketball players had crushes on the coaches which were also our teachers.

I was not into sports but was a math wiz - had a little crush on the math teacher.
Who also happened to be one of the coaches everyone else was crushing on.

My dentist. He had the most perfect blue eyes. I have to say that was one trip I looked forward to.

My sixth grade teacher, Mr. Jensen. He was a hottie, but he was also nice to me, I think because my mom was sick so much when I was growing up.

When I was in fourth grade, I had a crush on Veronica, the young girl who sat behind me. She had the cutest face and the most beautiful brown hair I had ever seen in my young life. I loved her smile. After school, I would go hope and call her on the phone and talk about meaningless things. I remember asking her first if I could call her when I'd get home. I still think about her all these years later!

My grandpa, my great uncle Harry, my great uncle Herman, my great uncle Gus, and my uncle Joe.

Uncle Herman came over to our house all the time. He built things for us and fixed things. I could tell from some of the conversations I overheard that he cared about my mom making mistakes. He moved away when I was in about grade 2.

Uncle Joe lived very far away, but when he came he was driving a big truck. He was fun to be around. The last time I saw him was when I was in grade 3.

Uncle Harry lived near us and would take us on Sunday drives in his taxi cab. One day he brought us apples and did something that killed my trust in him.

Grandpa killed my trust when I was 11. I asked him a question and he lied to me. It was a serious question and I knew the truth before I asked him the question. If he had told me the truth, I would have forgiven him.

Uncle Gus was always the best. He smelled like apple jelly and had fruit trees in his yard. Even now, I have a special place for uncle Gus in my heart. He has alzheimer's and has no idea who I am anymore.

I remember a major crush I had on a life guard. I was about 7, he must have been 17 or 18. I made a complete fool of myself when I invited him over for some basghetti.

I had a crush on my 9th grade Civics teacher. He is now the Superintendent of schools for our parish! Still a handsome man, too!

Oh yeah 9th grade civics teacher.
I was extremely shy and in that class we had to speak up for our grade.
Liking the teacher did not help much - made me more flustered.

No,no, it's the science teacher I remember....
in 7th grade; we moved to PA. and I tried to be such a hippie with an old Cher-look and all, but this teacher caught my eye and heart when he let me hold his boa constrictor!!!!

I do remember being painfully shy at the time, too.
