  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

At the Waitara SDA Church in Sydney, australia they held an outreach program run by the youth of their Church.

The main speaker was a 17 year old school girl in year 11. She still has one more year to go to complete her high school years.

This is not a typo error she is a 17 year old shool girl.

Her name is Charissa Fong. Anopther young person, Daniel Livingston was the organiser with Neale Schofield helping our behind the scenes as the young peoples mentor.

Each night over 150 people attendeds the program with 32 people making a decission to be baptized.

This is really great news considering this is coming right out of Sydney. Sydney is not know for its Christian perspective at all.

The information here was taken from the SPD "Record November 5, 2005"

Pr Geoff Youlden is the church Pastor and will continue a follow up series for those who are interested.

Further info about the follow up series can be found at www.search4certainty.com

That is great  Praise the Lord:amen:

I am curious though, churches in your area have never had young people under the age of 18yrs or under the age of 15 or 10yrs speak for youth programs or divine worship services before?

Danke

This did not happen in my area. There are no real youth in my local church.

I am the young person and I am 54.

Last Sabbath I had my young girl come up and help me with Sabbath School.

When my eldest girl was at home she would take the Sabbath School program and do a real good job.

She will come out at times and give me a had, this coming week a visiting Church from town are bringing their young people out to take the Sabbath School.

Where this other young girl took the mission program is about 600 miles south of us.

I am saddened to report that a church I recently visited had "Youth" day.... This is a church that is normally packed to the hilt. Approximately 1/2 of the church was missing!!!

Since my honey sings and we get to travel to various halls, theaters and what have you, we took the opportunity, while I was AY leader to take our young people to the Washington National Cathedral on Sabbath for AYS. It was a great experience and since he's also a history buff, he gave us a tour of the huge facility. Some families opted not to attend, which of course was their prerogative, but I am sorry their young people missed that treat. Here are two of the pics I took.

Silkcity mentioned that his church conducts AY meetings on Sabbath afternoons. I remember when the name of the youth services changed from Missionary Volunteers (MV) to Adventist Youth (AY). These services are still held in the region of the world from which I have come but I have found that not all churches in the US still conduct these youth services. What is the experience of the members of this forum with AY services? Does your church still hold them? What are they like? It may help to say what part of the world or which conference you are posting from.
Our youth services are terrible and I try to not attend them.

They give them weird "cool" names. like "Oxegyn" COME ON Oxegyn what is up with that? Next thing you know they'll start calling them things like bucket.

They are stupid and push this image of "RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD YO THEN YOU'RE ALL SET ROTFLMAOOLOLOL!!1!!" Sort of thing -___- as in, HEY, lets water down everything and not teach them a thing about things like Sabbath, end of times, you know, you have a relationship with God, so buying burgers at Burger king is perfectly okay on Sabbath, and while we're at it, lets play cricket!
And oh, we need to feed you youth people. Well, lets feed you all junk food and completely deny our adventist health message roots and promote bad eating and while we're are at it, why not add in a bunch of ove emotional I'm-now-going-to-start-waving-my-hands-and-start-crying type of music all the time that constantly repeats itself? And, at our youth services, lets fill the air waves with a horrifically land bashing of drums! Because thats really really really good.

-_-

Adult meetings are so much better. They treat us like we're stupid and some adventist youth, infact, probably most, only get this stuff as their spiritual food. With this.... shesh O___O

Windmill have you offered any suggestions to the leaders or offered to take programme.I've worked in the youth department for years everyone is a critic very few are volunteers
As moisherie recommends please give your input. Every church member has a right and a responsibility to contribute to the various church ministries so the church will grow and flourish. It would be wise to share your ideas, which may very well be a blessing to everyone. The program directors and assistants can not know what the young people have an interest in if the young folks do not say what's on their hearts.

Peace
