What "youth for Satan"? There are at most a few thousand practitioners of the LaVeyan atheistic form of Satanism in the United States, and to my knowledge they don't have a "youth for Satan" subgroup.

The school can't sponsor clubs, however they have to provide access to all facilities if they provide them to some (example, if they provide facilities for bible studies, boy scout meetings, and other activities not related to school, outside of school hours, then they have to provide facilities for satanist clubs as well, otherwise they would be favoring one group over another.)

Are they really called Youth for Satan or are you assuming they're worshipping satan because they label themselves as Satanists? Gundam, your post was very vague. If we're talking about LaVeyan Satanism then yeah, I guess they'd be worshipping satan. If we're talking about Satansim, in and of itself, then you should know Satanists do not worship satan at all.

Anyway, who cares if they want a club? The school cannot endorse it, but they should be provided the same opportunity to assemble as a Christian group would. As long as they aren't engaging in any harmful rituals or harming themselves and/or other students or teachers then what's the problem with them getting together? most likely though it's a bunch of Goth kids who think that it would be cool to worship the devil. Maybe some of them will grow out of it.

As was said before, the schools don't endorse the clubs, they just provide an area for the students to gather. What wrong with that? Don't like freedom of speech? How about freedom of religion?

Spiiiiiike! Didn't you know that freedom of religion only applies to Christians, particularly when they want mandatory prayer in schools, the Ten Commandments in every courthouse, and the word "evolution" removed from text books?

I should correct you here. LaVeyans don't believe in Satan as a being, so therefore they do not worship him. Theistic/traditional Satanists do believe in Satan as a being, so worship him.


Anyway, on this subject, I'm glad Fundamentalist Christianity is not evolving in this country (UK), and more reformed Christianity is, because it allows us Satanists to believe what we want without people putting us into second place because we don't worship 'God'. People for so long have fought for freedom, including freedom of worship. I think some people would do well to remember, that Christianity is not the only religion, and therefore should not have different treatment to every other religion. Satanism is a religion, it is a faith, and therefore, since schools are obliged to follow the law, it is illegal for them to prevent students from creating a Satanist group in school. If they refused them, it would be illegal, and so the school would most likely be branded as being prejudiced. This obviously applies to America also.

I say, don't let people get away with unfair treatment of those of different faiths, regardless of what Christians think of them.

I've a few things to point out...

First, $10 says the kids are just doing it to prove a point or they're experimenting--it's actually pretty rare to find real Satanists.

Second, assuming the kids were sincere in their faith (most likely not), what harm will it really do? Schools have Fellowship of Christian Athletes--but that's ok...

Third, how do you know this isn't a rumour spread by those horrid little children that have nothing better to do than create problems for those outside the "shelter" of mainstream society.

Like Isis-Astoroth well pointed out, real Satanism is a religion.

Real Satanism is NOT about drinking blood, sacrificing humans/animals. No it's not about any form of vandalism.
The christian beliefs about what a satanist would be like has created these "satan-worshippers" who follow the christian stereotypes.

I am a spiritual satanist. We believe, the being the bible names as Satan is the true Father of mankind. Actually we worship the gods from Sumeria and Egypt, believe me or not they're tied together.
We also believe that the bible has been written to take away our freedom.
