  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My youth, we have this thing called Discipleship Groups. We have it from 4.00pm-5.30pm of which we are broken up into different age groups/maturity levels to do Bible Study. After that we have our usual youth meeting so yea we pretty much have it 4 times a month with the occasional exceptions.. average out about 3 times a month.. :p hehehe.

we have a youth group every Wednesday evening, and there's also a more advanced Bible study type thing (we're studying the fundamental doctrines, at the moment we're in ecclesiology) before that for high school students (youth group is Jr. High also).

We used to have a "College/Career" Bible study (which changed to "College/Career & Others" because other people came anyways ;)) but I don't know what hapened to that at teh moment.

The youth group I work with we actually do Bible studies on a regular basis from 4:30pm to 6pm on Sundays. Maybe once a month or every 2 months we do something other then a Bible study like going to see a movie at the $2 theater or some other activity.

I can tell you that when I was actually in youth group as a youth...we did not have Bible studies often...if at all.

At first Youth group was about discussing issues (like peer pressure) and then once a month we'd do something fun like game night. But then as some of the older people in the group went off to college, how youth group was done changed. It moved into more of the "fun activities" like Game night, movies, bowling, roller skating, etc. as opposed to serious discussions.

I'm really glad the youth group now is more about the Bible studies and discussions and every once and awhile having a fun night. :)

As my youth pastor puts it, it's not a "youth group," it's a "youth ministry." :) And teh goal isn't jsut to have fun, hehe.

That's part of it though, I suppose ;)

/me thinks, "the more the better," regarding Bible Study.... if you can get people to come :p

i agree AA!!

As my youth pastor puts it, it's not a "youth group," it's a "youth ministry."

absolutely, paulewog!

um.... what else do you guys do besides bible study? how do you build up the relationship through programs? recently we had a religion group research done, which helped in this sense, but we're fast running out of ideas, we used to (still do) have outings and all, but i don't think they're helping in terms of relationship strengthening. (never get into the deep, or half deep stuff)

A normal youth group... just the youth group part, not the "discipleship" class that's before youth group :) ....

6:30 - 7:00, game time (some sort of group activity... rarely sports :sigh: hehe)

7:00 - 7:30, worship with singing time

7:30 - 8:00, a little sermonette.... hehe.

As for other things, we have a Friday night thing, first Friday of the month at the pastor's house we play games and eat junk food ;) and such. No devotion or anything there, actually... just fun and games

As for other stuff... every month we have one event type thing.

Yeah. That sums up the youth ministry, basically... hehe

our youth group is so random!!! yeh it is a ministry as well, cool Paul!

we don't have like, we will do this and this and that, it just got a flow, that is like our church aswell!!! Well, then again, that is like me too!!! It is very impulsive, and I am one of the youth leaders, and I like that!

We are just starting to do youth ministry at our church though and it is progressing and growing which is cool! our church is still very young (2 years max) and we have loads of new people, and God is doing something awesome there!!!

I have bible study with my youth group once a week. Fridays from 7-9. Even though we hang out till 10 most nights. Problem is all the people in my bible study grew up in the church. I am saved 7 months. So it is sometimes hard to relate to them on some topics.

The youth/student ministry at my church consists of Bible study 7-8:30 PM on Mondays and a social event each Saturday.

Besides Sunday School, our ministry to adults, including young adults, is modeled after ChristCare Small Groups. These are gatherings of three to twelve people that meet once a week or twice a month for 60 to 90 minutes to engage in Christian fellowship, applied Bible study, and prayer/worship.

If you're looking to develop a closeness in the group, activities need to be structured to help people get to know one another. Although fun activities are helpful, I believe weekly meetings are necessary. HTH.

Yeah, as Hot said, our "Cell Group" meets every tuesday from 7.30 until about 9.00/9.30, and we will start our on one topic, and end up going off onto about 10 different unrelated discussions wisthin a five minute period, lol. It's kewl though, cos we learn lots sonce we usually talk about whats relevant at the time..

I recommend this type of Cell Group, as Hot described, for all churches. It's very beneficial! ..and holding it once a week is good too.
