oh my, Advisory!
... Minor flooding possible Wednesday...
... Strong winds possible late Wednesday afternoon and evening...
Rain showers will develop around or a little after midnight... and
become steadier and heavier by daybreak on Wednesday. Around an inch
of rain will fall across southern Connecticut... southeast New York
and northern New Jersey from early Wednesday morning through early
Wednesday afternoon... with spotty amounts of 1.25 to 1.50 inches
possible. Due to recent rains and a buildup of leaves on the
ground... considerable street flooding is likely. The possibility also
exists for more significant urban and small stream flooding on
Wednesday. Especially vulnerable is northeast New Jersey where some
rivers and streams may slightly exceed bankfull once again... causing
minor flooding. The heavy rain during Wednesday... including the
period of the morning rush hour... will cause extensive ponding of
water on roadways. Drivers should use extra caution throughout
Wednesday morning due to poor visibility and the risk of
hydroplaning.
As the cold front passes across the tri-state region on Wednesday
afternoon... strong west winds will likely develop. West winds of 20
to 30 mph are expected during Wednesday afternoon and evening... with
gusts between 40 and 50 mph possible by late afternoon. Winds at
these speeds may cause tree limbs to break and possibly uproot a few
trees from the saturated ground. Travel may also be difficult at
times... especially for high profile vehicles. Prepare for the gusty
winds on Wednesday by securing any loose outdoor objects... like
trash cans or Holiday decorations. The winds will gradually subside
late Wednesday evening.
