I was raised baptist until the age of 17. I had asked Christ to come into my heart at 16. I was never baptised in a baptist church and fell away from 17 until the age of 32. At 32 I found my new home in the Catholic church. I was then baptised and confirmed into the church. I was wondering what are the thoughts of my protestant brothers on my chances of salvation.

You've got some hurdles to overcome, but as long as your beliefs and actions focus on Jesus Christ and Him alone as your redeemer and savior you should be in good shape. Still, it will be difficult because the doctrines of the catholic church are many that are not supported by the Bible.

Being "saved" means that you confess Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. It has nothing to do with whether you are Baptist or Roman Catholic. If you do the above it then has nothing to do with chance or what your chances are.

I wasn't going to add this at first but I'm being moved to say it.
I grew up in the Roman Catholic Church (baptised as a baby) and I have gone the opposite route that you have. I first came in contact with the living God when I was a teenager and in the RCC. There then was a long period when I had nothing to do with Him or the Church. At age 38 I rededicated my life to the Lord Jesus Christ but will probably never again join with the RCC. In your opinion, what are my chances at salvation?

So true. And you should believe that Christ's atonement is totally sufficient and that nothing else is needed. Only our belief and acceptance.

This might sound bland, but it doesn't really matter what we think. There is no set process to be saved. We're not saved by anything that WE do.

The important thing is God loves you! Love Him and Love others.

Jesus gives us new commandments which defines the law: Love God with all your heart and love your neighbor as yourself.

I really don't want to start a debate, but how can you come in here and tell this guy that, yea your in the clear, except the teachings of your church have no biblical basis. That's ridiculous. I wish people would look into these things before making this type of comment.

If you truly believed when you accepted Christ at 16yrs. of age, then you were saved before you became a Catholic and you are still saved.

Believe me, we have, Jesus is the foundation of our faith, He alone is our Saviour. The Bible and God's word alone is the foundation of our faith.

Hebrews 12:2 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)

2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

This really hits the nail on the head! Do I hear AMEN!? :amen:

Actually the Bible states that the Church is the pillar and foundation of truth. It does have an important role. It's not just you and your Bible and Jesus It's a bit more than that.

The church is the "Body of Christ and it is made up of His believers". According to our gifts, we all serve within the Body or the church.

Oh really? How can all believers be the pillar and foundation of truth if they believe in different truths? The think the Bible was refering to something other then what you are suggesting.
