Yes it is a great system, I have had several high powered programs running at once and the system never skipped beat... I highly recommend it.

So, what is everyone elses computer system specs ?

Or what all gaming systems do you all have ?

I also have marathon, athens, thermopylae, twinmp, oracle, marco, and polo -- but I don't want to spend 2 hours writing down the specs =:p

As for the cost of your computer -- I honestly don't see how you could ever need anything near that sort of system, unless you're into some insane graphics work or are a gamer in need of some serious help =;) "sparta" is the workstation I've had for a little over a year, and I have yet to feel the slightest urge to upgrade (of course, I may move some tasks over to "twinmp", my dual Athlon, when it's finished).

Congrats, you just wasted a bunch of money on your car insurance by switching to geico.

Alienware is paying for nothing but a name and a lame looking case. Had you built that yourself, you probably would have saved a lot of money.

TerraSin, I think I want to hug you. I couldn't agree more! A friend of mine just spent a similar amount of cash on one of their laptops, and I can't see how anybody finds it remotely attractive. Give me plain beige anyday =:)

Built it for $450 a looong time ago (gets good deals on parts) and still runs all the games on the market.
Was going to build a new game rig this year but bought a bike as seen from my sound file/profile link above. I'll build a new one next year before Middle-earth Online is released for the PC. Doubt I'll need to spend over $350 for max gaming performance since high end hardware is waaay over kill for games being released today. Oh have a nice laptop though... and some other good computers. I play games on this one mostly though.

My computer is still keeping pace these days:

Price $2,100 CDN 3 years ago
AMD Athlon XP 1600+
512 RAM (upgraded from 256 on Father's Day)
GeForce 3 Ti200

So far I've run Far Cry, Doom III and Pirates! without a hitch. I'm looking to pick up HL2, EQII and maybe WoW in the coming months.

A couple of months ago I priced out an upgraded motherboard, processor and ram into the 3 ghz, 1 gig range for $600 CDN. Didn't buy them and they are probably cheaper now.

I have no idea why you would want to spend that much on a system that could be built for thousands less, but to each his own.

Mine is as follows.

Price: $ ~$650
Brand: Self built ... a mutt
O.S.: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
MotherBoard: Asus P4B533
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 @ 2.0 ghz
Memory: 512 Meg DDR PC2100
Graphics Processor: Nvidida Geforce FX 5700LE 256 MB DDR AGP 8x
Sound Card: Some old Soundblaster card .. works fine
Storage: 40 gig HD @ 7200RPM
Network Connection: Some 1gig network card I swiped from a friend
Display 1: 17" piece of junk ... needs replacing
Speakers: Cambridge Soundworks surround setup
Printers: Busted ... use my roomies over the network

Optical Mouse, cheesy keyboard, various controllers, web cam lying around somewhere.

Plays any game I want to play at high enough settings to keep me happy. Doesn't slow down. No complaints.

I know what you mean. I can't help but think of the part in Shrek where they walk out of the field and Shrek looks up at the castle and ponders if maybe Lord Farquad is compensating for something. :D
