It's been upgraded progressively over the last 8 years or so, but at its core it's an eMachines T1110, released in mid-to-late 2001 (late 2001 was when my grandfather bought it, if memory serves; he'd hand it down to me in May 2003). Upgrades marked with an asterisk:

  • 1GHz Celeron Coppermine with 100MHz front side bus
  • 512MB PC133 SDRAM* (originally 256MB)
  • 160GB 7200rpm Seagate HDD* (originally 30GB 5400rpm Seagate HDD)
  • 3½" floppy drive
  • Samsung SW-212B CD-RW drive
  • LITE-ON SOHW-1693S DVD-RW drive* (originally there wasn't a second drive, and the -RW actually took the place of a standard DVD-ROM drive I'd taken out of a Compaq we were getting rid of)
  • EVGA Nvidia GeForce 6200 Legacy PCI card* (originally limited to onboard i810e graphics)
  • USB 2.0 PCI card* (originally only had USB 1.1 ports)
  • Altec Lansing 2.1 speaker system
  • eMachines 15" LCD monitor* (originally a 16" or 17" CRT, but it has problems retaining its reds and sporadically tints things green; I think the cable got damaged when I was installing the graphics card in early 2010...there's also a second CRT that worked fine for about six or seven months before it went unusably blurry); unfortunately the LCD is restricted to 1024x768, whereas the two CRTs could do 1280x1024 (the blurred-out one could ostensibly go higher than that, but the rest of the setup wouldn't allow it)
  • Standard keyboard
  • Microsoft optical mouse* (originally a ball mouse)
  • Windows XP Home SP3 32-bit
  • Ubuntu Linux 10.10 32-bit (always the latest version, though; I do a fresh install every six months)
  • It's on its third PSU; the first one burned out in September 2005, the second burned out in June 2010.

The base computer, speakers, and monitors were actually hand-me-downs from family. The 80GB 7200rpm Seagate HDD and original 30GB HDD I have are housed in enclosures sitting on the desk and the subwoofer, respectively. The USB 2.0 card was necessary when I bought the 80GB drive and enclosure, so that my speed wouldn't be crippled.

My current PC is an eMachines desktop. It's specs are as follows
1. Dual Core AMD Athlon II Processor (1.6 Ghz)
2. 4GB DDR2 Ram
3. 750GB Hard Drive
4. DVD Burner
5. NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE
6. Windows 7 Premium Home Edition (64-Bit)
7. Dell IN1910N flat panel monitor
8. Standard mouse, keyboard, and speakers.

I bought it back in May and so far it works good. It's powerful enough for my needs.
