You know how movies have soundtracks and some couples have their special song? Well, do any of you single saints have a life song? I have one. I had just come back to Christ and was listening to the Christian contemporary music station while driving home from work and this song came on the radio. I got to crying so hard listening to the lyrics I had to pull over. I thought, this song had to have been written for me! Anyway, it's Mark Schultz's "Back in His Arms Again". I posted a link to the lyrics as they are just too beautiful to not share. God bless you all!

Oh, yeah. Here are the lyrics to the song I mentioned in another of your threads. I pretty much consider it my "single song:"

Artist:Grand Incredible
Album:
G.I. Gantic
Song:
Right On Time

What’s her name? What’s she like?
Is she feeling like I do tonight
Is she hurt but believing everything
Is gonna be alright
Where’s she from? Does she sing?
Is she worried about anything?
Does she lie awake blinking and sighin’ and thinkin’
And wonderin’ when we’ll be finally meeting
Well don’t worry

(Chorus)
I am on my way, I’ll be right on time

Lord I’ll wait patiently for the woman that you have for me
I just need to keep workin’ to become the person I need to be
Be the man she deserves
I wanna be ready for her
A prayerful and thoughtful and hopeful romantic
With ears that can hear her a heart that’s GI gantic
So tell her that

(Chorus)

Yeah and she better be, she better be ready for me
Cuz I’ve been saving up all of my love to give her only
For my girl yeah my bride
My tired heart will open wide,
I’ll give her my hand and we’ll both lead each other
and I’ll walk her home to the house of our Father,
So wait for me

wow, both those are incredible songs. I don't know that I would call them my life songs, but I def have songs that fit different periods of my life. This is the first year that I've done this, but I've felt that my life song for this year is Steven Curtis Chapman's "Dive." I'll have to post the lyrics later, but basically it speaks to me about just diving into God's plan for my life without worrying about all the details and having everything planned out. I know that right now I am exactly where God wants me, but 5 yrs ago I would have told you that right now I'd be dating if not married, I'd be in my own place, and I would already have my Vet Tech Degree....well, none have happened yet! Although I am working towards getting my degree and getting out on my own, it's still pretty frustrating that I can't even see the other happening any time soon. It's really hard to just let go and let God!

I agree these are beautiful songs, though I haven't heard the theme to Kelly's Heroes.

My song for the last year or so is "Your Love" by Paul Colman Trio.
There have been others at different times but this one has been powerful to me partly because it is at times so easy to define ourselves by all sorts of things, predominantly what we do or things that have happened, or what others think of us, and that's not meant to be our reference point at all. It's a beautiful song, powerful lyrics, but 100 times better with the music.... soft guitar and gentle harmonies, if you can picture it. Or check paul's website there might be a version on there. Paulcolman.com

Anyway here it is.....
Your Love

Your love is everything to me
Your love is everything to me
I'm so glad You found me
I'm so glad I found You
I'm so glad I listened to You whisper in my ear
You told me that You loved me
You told me I was lovely
You overlooked the ugly
And You washed away my fear
Your love is everything to me
To me

And it's all I want
It's all I have
And it's all I see
And it's all I need
It's Your love.

Your love defines me
Builds and refines me
Your love is pure and real
And holy, holy

All I want
All I have
All I see

Mine is Kanasas "Carry on my Wayward Son"
Refrain}
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high

Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say

{Refrain}

Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't know

On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say

{Refrain}
No!

Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you

Well, I have several I could probably name as life songs, but the one I'd like to mention is "How Deep the Father's Love for Us." It perfectly sums up what the Gospel means to me and my Christian journey, as God has been making the cross more and more central in my life and more precious to me.

HOW DEEP THE FATHER'S LOVE FOR US
by Sarah Sadler

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure,
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure.

How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turned His face away
As wounds which bore the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory.

Behold the man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders,
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers.

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life,
I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything
Not gifts, no pow'r, no wisdom,
But I will boast in Jesus Christ,
His hope and resurrection.

Why should I gain from His rewards?
I cannot give an answer,
But this I know with all my heart,
His wounds have paid my ransom!

This is my lifes song since August 2002 when Jesus became my deeepst love and joy after som many years of emotional in waiting for a dear spouse.
The words sum it all up LIFE = ITS ALL ABOUT YOU JESUS.
No beloved spouse could ever match the heaven on earth I have found in Jesus alone, I ache for Him.
When the music fades,
And all is stripped away
And I simply come
Longing just to bring
Something that's of worth
That will bless Your heart

I'll bring you more than a song

For a song in itself

Is not what you have required

You search much deeper within

Through the ways things appear

You're looking into my heart

I'm coming back to the heart of worship

And its all about You

All about You, Jesus

I'm sorry Lord for the thing I've made it

When its all about You

Its all about You, Jesus X2 last time

King of endless worth
No one could express
How much You deserve
Though I'm weak and poor
All I have is Yours
Every single breath.

Well, I'd have to really think about this one. A very good question.

Err...but for the timebing, I'll at least say one song I was always fond of from Michael W. Smith, called "I Know Your Name." I haven't heard it in awhile, but whenever I do, it feels like it's...well...my song. :)

Who is the you that no one else can see
In your heart, the lonely one afraid to be
Lost again....need a friend

You hide your soul to keep the hurt inside
All alone, your tears call out into the night
Is He there...does He care

Yes, I know your name
Every prayer you pray
I'm the one who brought you to this place
The voice who sings to you
The hand that clings to you
Oh my child, I've always known your name
Known your name

I hold you close to me, close to heart
And this kind of love will find you anywhere you are
Never fear...I am here

Chorus repeat

I have several. Two of them by Living Sacrifice, one ironically by a secular band called Earth Crisis.

INTERNAL UNREST by Living Sacrifice

Internal unrest, emotional decline
Cruelly overbearing, will confined
Future uncertain, past regrets
Temporal pain, not easy to forget
Mangled thoughts irrational actions
Overwhelmed amidst confusion
Cry for hope total despair
Reaching out who will care

Emotions will ascend by divine intervention
Oppressive misery on the brink of extinction

Oppressive misery irrational actions
Overwhelmed amidst confusion
Emotions will ascend by divine intervention
Mangled thoughts on the brink of extinction

NO LONGER by Living Sacrifice

Fear get away from me
Doubt has no place in me
Seduction of death will go
Intermittent thoughts of past life
I do not know that man
Anymore nevermore
Weight has lifted,
is broken
That yoke destroyed
I've nothing more to do with it
Peace deep within I'm set free
I have become something else
My spirit breathes freely again
That yoke is destroyed
I've nothing more to do with it
No longer tormented
No longer

ARC OF DESCENT by Earth Crisis

Time's up to decide, now it's time to choose a side.
Time's up to decide, now it's time to choose a side.
Time's up to decide, now it's time to choose a side.
Time's up to decide, now it's time to choose a side.

Truth serum injected into the situation, so now I know.
Separated the real from the false and now I am better off than I ever was.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That's not the whole song, but this first part really takes me back to the critical moment, whether I was going to believe in Jesus or not. I was so weak when I was believing the lies of the devil and God's word has made me strong.

First off I would have to list two different songs here my off the wall song would have to be by Cletus T. Judd "Did I Shave my Back for this" (to the tune of "Did I shave my leggs for this" be Deanna Carter)

A Mason jar full of shine; a CD of LeAnn Rimes.
Is what I bought for our anniversary tonight.
Now here I stand, with my Petunias in hand.
And you've got a headache again.

I hit a yard sale, cut my toenails,
Trimmed my nose hairs just right.
I thought you'd be impressed, by my new huntin' vest,
But there's no chance tonight.

It ain't the first time this year; it'll be TV and beer.
I 'bout forgot what it's like to be kissed.
As I sleep on the floor, while she sniffles and snores.
Did I shave my back for this?

Ow, this things duller than a dead blade butter knife.

Now I bet she'll regret the fact that she didn't let,
Me take her to that motel with a pool.
You know it's so hard to find free HBO and Showtime.
And them vibratin' beds sure are cool.

I souped up the RV, fired up my flowbe,
Trimmed my toupee just right.
Tried self-tanning cream, it turned my skin green,
Er, you know the directions said that it might.

Well it's a mystery to me, why she don't like Cledus T.
Most find me hard to resist.
I'm wearin' my brand new drawers, and wonderin' what the heck for!
Did I shave my back for this?

Deanna, did I shave my back for this?
Ooh ooh ooh.

but my Real song would ahve to be "In the arms of someone who loves you" by the Martins.

There is a door down the hall
but to him it seems a million miles away
His room is dark, he feels so small
even though he wants so much to be brave
His blue pajama feet
run so desperatly
to a mother waiting there with open arms

In the arms of someone who loves you
Hear the heatbeat of hope
See a sweet familiar face a breath away
In the arms of someone who loves you
Where dreams and fears collide
Let the shadows steep aside one more time
In the arms of someone who loves you

There is a door down the hall
Where a Daddy's pride has never shined like this
She takes his hand for one short walk
Where a tear rolls down his cheek she leaves a kiss
They hear the Church bell's ring
The crowd comes to their feet
As he gives the bride away, he holds her close

In the arms of someone who loves you
Hear the heatbeat of hope
See a sweet familiar face a breath away
In the arms of someone who loves you
Where dreams and fears collide
Let the doubters step aside, you'll be fine
In the arms of someone who loves you

No matter if the distance to your heart is near or far
Love bridges the divide somewhere between two arms

There is a room down the hall
Where a family sits and they pray
They've hears her laugh, their hearts recall
The life that was before it slips away
Then one last peaceful dream
Begins eternity
As she runs into her Savior's warm embrace

In the arms of someone who loves you
Hear the heatbeat of hope
See a sweet familiar face a breath away
In the arms of someone who loves you
Where dreams and fears collide
Let the angels step aside, one more time
In the arms of Someone Who loves you
There's Someone Who loves you

My song is "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me. Here are the lyrics:

I can only imagine what it will be like
When i walk by your side
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
When your face is before me
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will i dance for you Jesus?
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence?
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Halelluja?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

I can only imagine when that day comes
And i find myself standing in the sun
I can only imagine when all i will do
Is forever, forever worship you
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will i dance for you Jesus?
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence?
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Halelluja?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine, yeah
I can only imagine
I can only imagine, yeah, yeah, yeah

Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will i dance for you Jesus?
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence?
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Halelluja?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine, yeah

I can only imagine, yeah, yeah
I can only imagine, Yeah
I can only imagine
I can only imagine, Ohh yeah
I can only imagine

I can only imagine when all i will do
is forever, forever worship you
I can only imagine
