This has always blessed me because we always hear how children are the apple to their fathers eye.. Gods word is to be that to us...1 My son, keep my words
and store up my commands within you.
2 Keep my commands and you will live;
guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. 3 Bind them on your fingers;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
Thank you for sharing this...it is just what I needed to read today!Proverbs 7 This has always blessed me because we always hear how children are the apple to their fathers eye.. Gods word is to be that to us...
AMEN!!!Thank you so much for this thread. As I read through these pages, I feel so encouraged by your love for Christ, your passion to follow Him, and the kindness of your hearts. Truly, as we share Scripture, we are so blessed!
Here is the verse that is on my heart this morning:
2 Cor. 3:14,16,18 "...the veil is taken away in Christ....when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away...we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Hebrews 12:2 in the NIV says, "fix your eyes on Jesus." As I reflect on this verse and the verse above, it strikes me that as we turn to Christ and fix our eyes on Him, all deception, darkness and blindness are taken away. Not only that, but as we come to see Jesus, and focus on HIM, we become more like Him.
He is so amazing.
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.
I have this verse hanging up in my home. I love this verse. I find that if I hang in there, I really will soar on wings as eagles. What I love even more though, is to read the whole thing! I love from start to end how this section of verses reads:Isaiah 40:31 those that hope in the Lord will renew their strength they will soar on wings like eagles they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not be faint
every day i wake up and remember this verse and it reminds me that no matter what happens Gods given me the strength to overcome it
"To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One. Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these?
He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing. Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"? Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
1 Gather togetheryes, gather together,
you shameless nation.
2 Gather before judgment begins,
before your time to repent is blown away like chaff.
Act now, before the fierce fury of the Lord falls
and the terrible day of the Lords anger begins.
3 Seek the Lord, all who are humble,
and follow his commands.
Seek to do what is right
and to live humbly.
Perhaps even yet the Lord will protect you
protect you from his anger on that day of destruction.
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
Great idea! And I haven't been here in a long time.James 1:22 - 25
This says a lot to me about how I need to remember to apply the Word, not just read it. I need to hear it and do it. I need to grasp it. I need to write it on the tablet of my heart and let it come through in everything that I do. I love all of James. The book is very powerful. But I figured it would be obnoxious to post the entire book in one post!Want to try to keep you coming back for more conversation.
