Your Christmas Projects!

Since there are less than four months until Christmas I was wondering whether anyone else has started making or planning their Christmas gifts or decorations, or are in need of some ideas?

I started making handmade stockings a few months ago, I've completed four and have about seven to go. I'm using red gingham fabric for the stocking, embroidering their names in green and they have a white trim. I wanted to use fake-fur as the trim but I've had to make to with a thin feather boa type material.

Yes have started making gifts early this year. I will make everyone special personalized quilled ornaments... One for each member of each famil... That will take me a while to finish them all.

I have done some thinking on it, but the true 'bug' to get to working on it doesn't come until it get a bit more cool, say mid to late October. After Thanksgiving.... oh boy, watch out!! That is when the 'bug' really gets me and I wish I had about 5 pairs of hands to do all I want.

Well this Christmas I am doing a lot of projects in honor of my mother who died this year. Some of the projects I am doing are ones that she had bought the supplies for and was planning on making (jewelry-my mom came into some money and had bought about $600 worth of stuff from Fire Mountain Gems about a month before she died to do projects for everyone for Christmas) and some projects for my siblings in honor of my mother (scrapbooks of mom's life). I'm also using up some of mom's other craft supplies and giving those presents in mom's name like the jewelry (mostly glycerin soap projects and possibly some ornaments). I really wish I would have started on all of this about a month or two ago, but this summer has been very busy. I'm praying I have time to get everything done before Christmas as these projects are very special to me.

I started my friend's Christmas sampler back in the end of July, after that I will be making a Noah's Ark sampler for my inlaws, I hope to make a P. Buckley Moss sampler for my step mom and a sentimental one for my dad and I haven't found one for my mom yet. I would like to make a sampler for all my friends and family.

Wow, Ohiomom2, that is awesome. I guess by sampler you mean cross-stitch work. I'm in awe at any one who does that on any consistent basis. I gave it up ages ago, except the occassional tiny piece, it drives me nuts, too slow of progress.

Hischild, yes it does go slow It is so much fun to see the completed work though. I am so excited to see how this one looks after I frame it and all.

You'll have to give us a look see when you've gotten it completed. I am always amazed at the beauty of cross-stitch work.

I think it is too early to think of Christmas yet. When I get back from holidays I 'll start to think about what I 'll do this year.

Last christmas I made all my friends t-shirts (which they wear!) This year I'm still contemplating what I'll do. I'm moving so i'll have new friends and less remaining old friends....I'll have to wait and see.

I know for one girlfriend I'm knitting her a scarf and I think I'll make a few more of them. I'm going to make wild grape jelly to give away. So far that is all I have come up with.

i am going to do some christmas decorations and i'm joining an advent calender swap - 10 of us are going to make advent calenders then swap them so lots of fun!!

I've started knitting scarves for christmas gifts.

Oh but you can do scarves in fun combinations and end up with really random stripes!

the only project I'm still working on is drawing our home on cardstock for our personalized christmas cards this year-

I had an idea for a Christmas gifts for all my friends this year. I was going to have an artist make a rendition of all of my friends as an individual superhero that I had picked out for them.

For example, my friend JR, I was going to have him as Aquaman because he loves to swim. I just thought it fit. I just need to find an artist to pay for cheap. I need like 25 of these.

To Batman: I do super heros, but i don't think I'd be able to do 25 by christmas. ^^;

A few years ago I did a painting for our christmas cards, but I try not to do a painting for everybody. I'm just not that industrius.

So far all I know that I'm doing for christmas is a purse for my cousin and a vest for mom if I don't get it done by her birthday.
