Atheist who accepts evolution here, so I guess "Atheistic Naturalism" is as good a description as any.

When it comes to the diversity of life in general and the arrival of humanity in particular, the evidence for evolution seems incontrovertible.

I won't claim to have any real explanation as to where the universe came from, but however weird it may be, nothing has convinced me that an intelligence is behind it.

It looks like creationism could be slowly shrinking.

That's supported by the fact that Gallup polls mostly by land-line, which more and more people (especially younger people) don't have. Pew includes more cell phones to get a more accurate number, and their data suggests that the "creationist" numbers are only around 30% nationally. Putting the "creationist" point up on that graph above at ~30% instead of ~40% would be a big drop.

Internet polls are fun too, of course. : )

I voted Atheistic Naturalism, but I won't call it a belief. More like where the evidence points.

I would also add the current evidence doesn't rule out a god, just makes one highly unlikely. So manybe Atheistic Naturalism isn't exactly what I should vote, but based on current evidence it is the best guess.

Yes, biblical creationism is slowly declining and has been for a long time. In the United States, it still happens to be the highest, amongst what we would call; advanced countries.

What I find most interesting, is 19% (1 in 5), believe in evolution, with God having no hand in the process. Since polls typically show atheists and agnostics at maybe 10%, this would mean some people who believe in a God, believe he had no hand in evolution.

They asked people if scientists generally agree or disagree amongst themselves on the question of climate change, evolution, and the Big Bang. I was stunned that the pole was about 50/50 on the BB. The scientific consensus is well over 95% on that one. Evolution is 99% consensus amongst biologists. Climate change is probably closer to 80-90% on climate change.

They were probably referring to scientists as a whole rather than those that study those particular fields.

I found it impossible to select an accurate answer from those on offer, apart from Other.

My belief is that science has demonstrated unparalleled success in explaining the nature of our world. Now science is a methodology, not the findings of that methodology. Consequently my acceptance (not belief) at any one time of ideas about our origins is based upon the current findings of that methodology.

If the available evidence changes then what I would accept as the most likely explanation for that evidence would also change. However, what is being called a belief system would remain unaltered.
