Oh we all know that anybody can sing and pray, read the gospels, even know entire portions of Scripture by heart. Yet it is entirely possible that their hearts are far from God. Mt 15:8
I won't lie to you- that is one of the most bizarre and random responses I've ever received.Stick to your own well sown fig leaves if you want. They won't give you peace.
Pseudo-spiritual garbage. Abel gave his best, and it was received, as a sweet smell. Same goes for Abraham. Same goes for Cornelius.Man from the beginning has endeavored to do his best: it's all rubbish for God.
It's all about Jesus, we know this. You can try to make the nicest liturgy, sing the nicest songs, the nicest music, smell the nicest incense, have the nicest icons, the nicest buildings, the most historic sites perhaps, true relics, do miracles, throw out demons, etc...
it won't help you one bit....
If only religion was our greatest enemy.Go to the Hindus, or to the tribes in Africa, they have the same stuff.... It's called religion.
I would have hoped that you would know the difference between religion and true worship of God. Apparently you don't?
And blowing off the teaching of the Alpha and Omega.True worship of God does not include scripture according to some.
Well, when Adam had gotten a bad conscience (after he sinned) he thought he should hide his shame from God and therefore performed the making of skirts of fig leaves. But it didn't do him any good, because he was still hiding from God! So, moral of the story is: you can make the nicest things to cover up, it won't help: you will still run from God when He comes to meet you. This is the essence of all religion: do something to be more acceptable to God, (or the gods as the case may be)I won't lie to you- that is one of the most bizarre and random responses I've ever received.
Please simplify for this poor and simple servant of God.
Well, I am surprised that despite all your liturgic bible reading the essences of the story never dawned on you? See what religion does: it's a narcotic....soporific. (wait a minute: who said that before?)Pseudo-spiritual garbage. Abel gave his best, and it was received, as a sweet smell. Same goes for Abraham. Same goes for Cornelius.
Please re-read the portions not highlighted in your bible.
So, why throw in all the other stuff then?? If it is truly all about Him, why mix it up with your own stuff? It's all about Jesus, we know this.
Ah, but religion is what makes pride so sweet and pious..... Like I said it's a nice cover up.If only religion was our greatest enemy.
It's pride that truly is, and the rebelion that goes with it.
Even that too, yes.Yes, it is entirely possible.
So let's throw out the Lord's prayer? and reading the Gospels and psalms?
I don't get it. Even sola scriptura fails this test.
True worship of God is worshiping the way He said to. Not the way a charismatic said to which is completely contradictory to the reverence and respect that God not only deserves but has more than earned.I would have hoped that you would know the difference between religion and true worship of God. Apparently you don't?

I imagine there are pseudo spiritual people within many "churches". There is a place for reading the Bible and singing the psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. That is important. It is also important for all members of the Body to turn to their spirits and to the Lord and to pray to Him from their spirits in an unscripted way.So liturgy=religion.
Religion=bad
Making it up as you go='spirit-filled.'
Why not throw out bible?
It is the shared, pre-written prayers and words of the people.
I despise the pretenses of the pseudo-spiritual- that's my opinion, since we're sharing.
Christianity is a religion. If you are against "religion", then maybe you should be an atheist. Christianity is a religion.
Even that too, yes.
I very well understand the story, but it bears no relationship to my approach to God.Well, when Adam had gotten a bad conscience (after he sinned) he thought he should hide his shame from God and therefore performed the making of skirts of fig leaves. But it didn't do him any good, because he was still hiding from God! So, moral of the story is: you can make the nicest things to cover up, it won't help: you will still run from God when He comes to meet you. Even that Marxian quote has been taken out of context- first by the atheists, then by you. Coincidence?See what religion does: it's a narcotic....soporific. (wait a minute: who said that before?)
Pride is found in those who reject the Commandments and their ancestors. So, why throw in all the other stuff then?? If it is truly all about Him, why mix it up with your own stuff? Ah, but religion is what makes pride so sweet and pious..... Like I said it's a nice cover up.

But if you want a life of no religion, than become an Atheist. You'll be welcome in Communist circles.
Hi everybody!Pride is found in those who reject the Commandments and their ancestors.
The liturgy is the reading of scripture. If you reject this, why not write yor own scriptures/ Or would even repeating them once make it 'religious?'
I don't. We say the Lord's prayer and the psalms. I guess then anyone could use the sctiptures as a "cover up".

See aboveIf all that one does is read scripts, that is not living and active or in and of Christ.
Christianity is a religion.
Ok, so now let's deal with the pseudo-spirituality of didaining "religioning."Christ is not a religion.
I guess it's a lost cause with you guys. You're so hung up on your religion, that "spirit and truth" don't matter anymore??? It seems you're still trying to climb the mountain to reach to heaven.
Probably not, Rick- after all, I'm one of them.Hi everybody!
I'm back & lookin' for trouble,... wouldn't ya know it Rdr, you timing is convenient!
My answer would be ,"It depends on your mortive!"
So can we trust you not to be religious, or not?
