  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

24whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But God has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked,
25so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.
26And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
27Now you are (AF)Christ's body, and (AG)individually members of it.
28And God has (AH)appointed in (AI)the church, first (AJ)apostles, second (AK)prophets, third (AL)teachers, then (AM)miracles, then (AN)gifts of healings, helps, (AO)administrations, various (AP)kinds of tongues.
29All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they?
30All do not have gifts of healings, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not (AQ)interpret, do they?
31But (AR)earnestly desire the greater gifts. And I show you a still more excellent way.

1First of all, then, I urge that (A)entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, 2(B)for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.
3This is good and acceptable in the sight of (C)God our Savior,
4(D)who desires all men to be (E)saved and to (F)come to the knowledge of the truth.
5For there is (G)one God, and (H)one mediator also between God and men, the (I)man Christ Jesus,
6who (J)gave Himself as a ransom for all, the (K)testimony given at (L)the proper time.
7(M)For this I was appointed a preacher and (N)an apostle ((O)I am telling the truth, I am not lying) as a teacher of (P)the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8Therefore (Q)I want the men (R)in every place to pray, (S)lifting up (T)holy hands, without wrath and dissension.

I partied with the Dead in their hotel room after their concert in Omaha in '74.
One of em gave a hotel room to a cute little teenager & she didn't know what to do with it, so I showed her to the room.
I had just come to town & still had an Air Force haircut.
Jerry didn't even blink. Maybe he thought i had recently gotten out of jail.
I asked him what he was listenin' to & he said he was groovin' on Warren Zevon at the time. The two of us shared a smoke, & then Bob weir walked in. I told him I thought Blues for Allah was their all time best, but he said he liked Skakedown Street best. Phil Lesh showed up & the two of us went down to the bar to fetch some wine glasses. Things were goin' pretty well until Keith Godchaux showed up. He was poop-faced and crackin' edgy about my painfully straight aura, so I left.
Other than that it was pretty good time.
