Last school term I was taking my daughter - a 1st grader - to school. I also had her younger sister, 2 years younger, with me. We got their before the breakfast doors opened so we hung out for a little bit. Another woman who looked to be around my age (I'm 45) arrived with two little girls. As the girls all played together we started chatting. We laughed about the fact that both sets of sisters were the exact same ages, only both of my girls were 2 months older than her girls. I'm thinking, "Ah, sympatico! Another older mom!"

As we continued chatting, she at one point said, "Yes, I'm so glad that I can spend as much time with my granddaughters as I do."

Ouch.
