In the same way and for the same reasons that DNA is incontrovertible, concrete, physical, scientific evidence that two people are related it is also incontrovertible, concrete, physical, scientific evidence that two species are related. Similarities in DNA are derived through inheritence. This is a FACT of NATURE!!!

humans and chimpanzees share 98% of their genes! the process of replication is the same in chimpanzees, both the act itself and what occurs in the cells.

humans and chimpanzees are related. This is not opinion or conjecture or a guess, it is a FACT.

It is also a fact that if humans are created in gods (physical) image, then god looks like a monkey.

Im pretty sure the passage would mean some sort of spiritual image.

It its 99.9% same DNA, that wont change the creo. idea that it just means god created us all on the same day, and just used some of the same ideas for things not so different. Doesnt begin in that light, to prove common descent.

Chimps are kinda nasty. I'd sort of rather have some sort of other cousin.

That 2% represents a HUGE leap across a canyon.

Despite popular belief, DNA evidence is not as accurate as people might assume. The 99.9% people often cite is actually just an estimate and no one is actually sure how accurate it might be. While every person's DNA is different, a DNA profile, the bit used as evidence, is only a small sliver of a person's entire DNA, and even siblings may share a very similar DNA profile. In 2001 Kathryn Troyer ran a test of Arizona's DNA database of felons and discovered two felons with DNA profiles where 9 of 13 markers were identical, despite the fact that one was white and one was black, and later discovered dozens of other similar matches, yet the FBI estimates the odds of some one sharing those genetic markers to be 1 in 113 billion. The fact that only 13 markers are used out of the entire DNA strain should bring into question the validity of DNA evidence.

God choose to make us with 2 arms 2 legs ect.... and he made monkeys similar. DNA is a blueprint and if the creatures are alike the plans are alike as well. if 2 houses look similar of course their Blueprints will look alike, this points to the same architect not a "common ancestor"

Suggests a rather unimaginative creator, wouldn't you say?

Just some technical help. I understand that your quote button is blocked?

Here is how you do it manually: [ quote = postername ] TEXT TO QUOTE [ / quote ] Remove the spaces.

the address to the quote button in the posting window (advanced) is "http://img.christianforums.com/style/editor/quote.gif" , and the quote button below posts is "http://img.christianforums.com/style/buttons/quote.gif" if you want to unblock it.

Hope this helps?

Right, so? I guess it is interesting, that there was a way for the genes to transfer in the far past, that allowed this to happen. Whether by acts of evil pre flood men, or some other means of transference post flood. Guess we'll never know just how, since all we have to work with is how it now works. At least it will not be through science of man, that we one day find out.

There is, of course nothing in a relation with chimps, that says that man is not a special creation. And that is the crux of the matter, after all.
Relax, we are not beasts.

Yes, because the lost civilization of atlantis, where people flew around with crystals strapped to their backs, where they mastered psychic powers, had perfectly clean energy, and could manipulate genetics is a better solution to genetic proof of common descent than common descent.

Evolution can be bad (Planet of the Apes), stupid (opening scene, 2001: A Space Odyssey), or just plain wrong (Genesis 1).

How about a little light reading?

Viruses and the Evolution of Life

Molecular Phylogeny and Evolution of the Human Endogenous Retrovirus HERV-W LTR Family in Hominoid Primates

Basically, HERV-W was endogenized around 5 million years ago into the germline cells of ancestral apes. The duplication of this ERV's sequences gives a timeframe that allows us to plot points of divergence between species. This matches the phylogenetic tree constructed for the Hominoid taxonomy, and so is proof of evolution.

As a side note, these ERV's were once thought to be neutral in the genome, recent studies have shown that they are linked to certain functions such as trophoblast cell fusion in human development, and also their latent activation can be linked to certain diseases such as schizophrenia. This makes the study of ERV's role in HGT pretty hot right now. It's important to note, however, that only sections of the ERV's code does this, the majority of the ERV's code is neutral within the genome.

except we share the same ERV with creatures from the past. We have a problem. Ether God planted these to make it look like we evolved from earlier life, and thus is a deceptive god, or we did evolve from earlier life.

Go with bonobos. They aren't perfect, but they certainly are a touch more mellow than chimps.
