This happened today. A young girl with autism that my daughter ran Cross Country with in the Fall, called my name from behind me as we were going into Blockbuster. I've only talked to her once, and only for a few moments. And my name is hard. Nobody remembers it. Nobody who tries to, gets it right the first time. Nobody can ever spell it correctly, let alone pronounce it the way it's supposed to sound. And yet, this young girl, she's like 13, did. Must be the autism. That's all I can think of to explain it. (I'm off to read your blog now. )
