Hillary Clinton's vendetta against sexually explicit games (unlike that of her husband's) has allowed congress to pass a measure which will call for a full and thurough investigation of GTA: San Andreas' makers.

This is beyond absurd. This investigation is going to hit deep (like $50 million) into government spending and tax dollar all for the sake to stop our kids from being corrupted by video games. Goes to show you how lame the democrats are and the rest of the scum that caved in on this issue.

Some were given Vietnam era flak jackets and had to buy their own body armor.

No different from any other war America has fought in. I'm just surprised they didn't receive rations from the Vietnam era. After all, WWII soldiers received gear and rations from the WWI era. America has a really bad habit of drawing down its forces only to be caught unprepared the next time war happens. It all began right after the Revolution when the Marines were abolished and the Naval fleet was sold off. Boy were they surprised when the Quasi-War came about not to mention the spat with the Barbary pirates!

Maybe they should adequately prepare our troops for war prior to pre-emptively invading a country.

How about regardless of pre-emption or any war? Does this mean you will support adequately funding the military all the time -- even during peacetime? War rarely catches us at a good time after all.

I thought what was absurd about all of this is that the furor isn't about the way you can hurt, kill, maim, or otherwise victimise fictional people in the game. That's given a pass. There's a naked, fictional, polygon woman in the game that your clothed polygon character can have squarish, unrealistic sex with. If you go out of your way to modify the game.

Clearly, if Our Children (tm) see what the Playstation 2 thinks a woman looks like with no clothes on, there will be chaos in the streets and people will run all over pushing each other into the bushes.

If they see Our Government (tm) irresponsibly waste $50m, it's a sure thing they will sit down and relax though. I feel like I can already hear the wizzing sound.

? We didn't have a navy until John Adams. We had a few privateers and at the end the French navy.

Granted it wasn't much of a Navy during the Revolution, but we first established the Navy in 1775. Our biggest victories came not only from John Paul Jones, but ironically also Benedict Arnold's ragtag 'fleet' in the Great Lakes. You can learn more about the early years here:

Creating a adult oriented easter egg in a mature rated game?

While I know you're against the whole investigation thing, I think a lot of people have this misconception about the "hot coffee" sex scene, that is unlockable or something. Whether you are playing the game on the PS2 or the PC, to view this scene, it requires willful altering of the game code, either through Action Replay or by downloading a MOD. It doesn't matter if Rockstar made the game code or not, you cannot come across this scene normally, accidentally, through cheats, or as a special bonus - you HAVE to alter it yourself.

Now, a Florida lawyer is trying to get the ESRB to investigate The Sims 2, because there is a nude patch available. Sure, people are going to break the rules to do stuff they aren't supposed to do with a game. But, that's possible with every product ever made, from a Bic razor to Lysol spray.

Didn't they already investigate this game?

Technically, no, they didn't. It's been in the news, but nothing ever this serious.

Isn't it rated for adults?

It was rated "M" for Mature, which is quite similar to an "R" rating for movies. Children aren't supposed to be playing it, that's why it has that rating, and has had that rating since Grand Theft Auto 1 (aside from the GameBoy versions).

What's odd about it is, the game is extremely violent, there is a lot of harsh language, and there is already sexual innuendo. Either the irresponsible parents didn't read the rating, look at what was in the game, or didn't care that it was filled with violence and language. For some reason, pixelated beheadings is OK, but God forbid there be a pixelated boob.

Why are we spending 50 million more?

Because the Democrats are trying to win over the hardcore Christians, so they can surely win the next election. I think they would have anyway, because Bush's second term (as well as the first) is an abomination.

This discussion has nothing to do with this thread.

Actually, the nude feature of the Sims 2 is just a cheat code (or edit of a text file). Someone just made a patch on top of it. In any case, this is stupid. The nudity in The Sims 2 is like that of a bunch of Barbie® dolls without attire. Though, other patches for this Teen rated game, and the inspiration for regular Whoowho are much more immoral.:groupray:

Two things

I'm not a big fan of censorship, especially with music and movies. However, when children are the majority of the market for video games, then a line needs to be drawn.

And it needs to be drawn by parents. Know what your kids are playing. Don't buy them everything they ask for just to shut them up. Be involved and there will be less of a market for **** like this, and it'll go away.
