A lot of people dont knw a thing about PCs and dont know how to upgrade it (like me) and people like that tend to buy new PCS and to buy a PC thats 100% as good as the 360 is...well i am sure it's more then 400$s
just about any good new PC is about 900$ and they arnt gameing PCs.
and PCs lag and you can get hacked by people you get mad at you.
and if you dont want to get hackd or you PC to slow down you need to have some thing runing all the time to keep it from geting spyware.
but what do i know about PCs (nothing.)

Negative.
PC's only lag if you get on a server that's far away..that's normal of any online game for any console or system..but from what i'm played..consoles seem to have more of a lag issue..I can play a game of BF2 on a 64 player server every night and almost never get any real lag. As for hacking...nope. If you stay on secure servers (most are nowadays) you'll be fine..infact, TURN OFF anti-virus or spyware programs when you play and things run even better. :)

PC gaming online is the safest and most flexible right now..and that's thanks to people making mods for their servers which provide WAY more protection then the company who made the game originally.

And you can buy used games for far less than that. PC games don't have a lot of used games I noticed
You've never been to an EB Games store

Consoles can have just as deep a control scheme as a computer can.
Because they can do voice commands, and quick menu options.
A PC can have all of that and more

Well, except for RTS being TOTALLY unworkable on a console.
What RTS games do they have for console? The only one Ive seen (And have) is Kessen which is the closest thing to a Rome: Total War style RTS Ive seen for console.

I'm so in at my EB store, I was pushed up on the 360 list.
I preordered in Aug.
They said no one who didn't preorder 'before' march will get one.
I got mine. ;)

So yeah, I know my EB store. And they don't have squat for used games.
I know, I have been looking.

More? What more. And no matter what more there is, the 360 can do it.
After all it's more powerful than your PC is.

I hope some RTS come to the 360.
I'm sure they will, because that's one thing microsoft went after.... more variety of games.

whats that joker doing sueing Microsoft?!!!
only in America hey! :)

every console has problems at launch - JUST SWAP IT UNTIL YOU GET A WORKING ONE!!! EASY! if the console had a fatal flaw in its design to do with overheating they would have noticed that in the design stage surely!
i hate it when people sue for no good reason. i hope Microsoft stretch it out so he has to play loads of lawyer fees and makes him feel silly! :D

as for the PC vs Console debate i shall throw in my two pennies.
PC's are MUCH more versatile i think everyone will agree. spending more money is worth it because of the amount of stuff you can do with it. games are cheaper AT LAUNCH for PC games. you can get them for almost half the price of the console equivilents within a few weeks.
Consoles are sooo much easier to use. all you have to do to get a game to work is put it in. with PC if there is a problem you may have to go through loads of troubleshooting to get it to work. consoles are also much better for multiplayer with friends rather than online. all you need to do is get a few friends round plug in the controllers and off you go and can have banter with people face to face. much more fun imo!
there are many other comparisons but i dont have time to go through them.

gun to my head id rather have a high end PC than a console because of the versatility and ease of upgrade. however, i like having them both because i can enjoy different styles of gaming very easily. end of the day enjoy all the gaming hardware you can get your hands on! :)

I hope so, that would be a major selling point for me, along with some good RPGs. If they would make some RTSs for 360 with support for kb/m, I would be all over it.

Isn't it pretty much "in stone" that FFX1 is coming to 360? I remember reading that they were looking at porting WoW as well and I think Vanguard is being developed for it too.

FFX1 is coming out for the 360.

I would be shocked if most of those PC games didn't come over to the 360.
Some of the most successful games have been PC ports to xbox.

Like I said, what you spent on the system, games, and the TV to play it on, I could buy a computer that is just as good and does twenty times more functionality-wise. Then, in two years when you have to spend 300 bucks on a new system and new games, I wont even need to spend a dime to make the latest games playable on my computer.

For gaming, I prefer my PS2 to my computer. Now I'm not saying that I don't like gaming on my laptop...because I do occasionally. But I just find more games that I like for my PS2. HAve I had problems with my PS2? Yes! Have I had problems with my laptop? Yes! Have both those problems been fixed so that I can get on with my life? YES!!! So what's the problem?? Every electronic device created is going to have malfuncions. It's the nature of the things!!!

And like my youth pastor said, "I don't want to say that X-box is getting old...but it's getting old."

Really? Then why is it that one of the biggest complaints f the Xbox..and of the games coming out for the 360 are infact..the LACK of variety? :)
By next year PC's will once again be in the lead.

But it's not about power..obviously PC's have it...it's about games. As far as consoles are concerned..Sony is in the lead...more games...more developers and a whole heck of a lot more variety. (and with the PS3..more power)

PC's for single player games are lacking..for online, they deffinetly lead.

And you said no matter what more there is..the 360 can do it...since when could you do modding on the 360? One of the primary reasons for playing online games?

Prime example of the 360's limitations, there is a game out for the PC that is absoltely peerless in my opinion, Nexus: The Jupiter Incident. The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is engaging, the storyline is great. Its one of the top RTS games that I have ever played.

There is NO way that the 360 could play that game. The graphics are probably equal to the 360 but the gameplay is WAY beyond the 360's scale of do-ability.

Also, Battlefield 2, a great example of a modern FPS. It was released for the PC and Ive played it, excelent game then I had the opportunity to play the console version.....huge disparites. The console version was extremely stripped down.

PC's for single player games are lacking
Play F.E.A.R, that will obliterate your doubts.

Plus games for the PC are WAY cheaper than console. When they initially come out theyre pretty much equal, Ill agree but within a few months, PC titles slink down to the $19.95 rack. I see X-Box games sell for 60 bucks, then 50, then 40, then 35 and they STAY at 35 untill a new system comes out.

There's a flipside to this, in that console games hold up in resale value much better. When they get older, they're also generally easier to find used. BTW, you're also wrong about used game prices. It varies a lot from game to game, there aren't many that will stay at 35 for long. That's just the very high end games (like Halo, though Halo is also 20, brand new, now), and even then it's uncommon... Metal Gear Solid 3 is $10 for instance.

There is NO game in the world that a console can do that the PC couldnt do better

"The PC" is very vague. In general, for the amount spent on a console, you can not get a PC that can do the equivalent in graphics, especially true if you wait for price drops like I do. Graphics aren't a big deal though anyway.

And, yeah, they could make a kb/m compatible RTS for the 360. But what they could do doesn't really matter; it's what they actually do that counts.

If someone has the money to burn, PCs will always be tops for gaming because games are made on computers.

More important, to me, are the types of games I like are very often console exclusive. This is, in the end, what matters the most. It's also a major hassle to have a PC set up with the big TV, and that's usually unworkable with KB/M.

Helo said:

There's been a few. Many are just inferior versions of PC RTS games. There's also Pikmin, which is unavailable for PC. Nothing like Rome though, it's more unique than that. Don't personally like it, but many do. Both StarCraft and C&C had console versions (the PSX version of C&C used a mouse, which is nice).

Helo said:

TWO YEARS? If you're buying at launch, it's 5 years usually. PSX lasted 8 or 9. The NES lasted 12. Neo Geo AES lasted 15. But five looks to be the standard now.

Like I said, what you spent on the system, games, and the TV to play it on, I could buy a computer that is just as good and does twenty times more functionality-wise

....this is a silly statement. Most people already have a TV, just like you already have a computer monitor when you get a new computer.

You're also wrong. My 32" TV cost $200, the last console I bought cost $70 (GameCube), plus $15 for the memory card, and I bought it roughly 2 years after launch. For about $200, I could get a decent PC that will do most of the other stuff you've made reference to. I'm a cheapskate though. If you're patient and a cheapskate, like me, consoles are inarguably the cheapest source of recent games.

What couldn't be done, gameplay wise, on the 360? Keep in mind it can use USB KB/M.

As far as Battlefield 2's console version could have been done much better, but it got stripped down so it could run on the PS2. Try to get the PC version to run on 5+ year old PC hardware.

The Xbox could have had a much better port job than it got, but as has happened many times, they design it for the weakest link (PS2) then port it elsewhere.

Play F.E.A.R, that will obliterate your doubts.

He still has a point. The PC gets less games period than consoles do, and a lesser variety. Imagine you disliked strategy and shooters. If you don't favor those genres, the PC is a sorely lacking platform, especially in the past few years. Not that there's nothing - the PC does get ports of some console-centric releases (the Spider-Man games for instance), but it still doesn't get nearly as many as consoles do.

As a final ending note, I like both consoles and PCs for gaming. I played Half-Life mods online just a few hours ago. But, overall, I've had so many more bad experiences with PCs that I favor consoles now. I've never had a console break, perform extremely badly for no apparent reason, or become outdated too quickly.

They dont make Gauntlet: Dark Legacy for PC :)

I was talking about initial buying, if you wait, consoles are cheaper but graphics are...lacking

Ok, 5 then

At that point, I say just get a computer

I did, there was some decrease in graphics and the performance was shakey but it ran

Face it, the 360 is stronger, better, and it costs less than any PC out there!
Plus it's more convienant, and no worrys about bugs and stuff messing with the game.

Mod, shmod, if the reinvented games were so good, then why don't the game makers create the game like that?
There are plenty of great options in games already. A 10th way of playing the same game is not necessary.

On a side note, I just enjoyed 8 straight hours of gaming!!
I'm getting this game called Geometry Wars, this game is like a classic arcade game, Astroids basicly but much much better!
And the graphics! It's like watching a fireworks show, the graphics get a 10.
Basicly you're flying a ship that has unparalled control, it moves silky smooth!
With some extreme fire power.
You have to shot those shapes(circles, triangles, squares, etc) it get's very hectic, very fast! But you have a steady stream of fire power, that progresses as you make higher scores.
All while pumping out some great mellow techno music.(options you can adjust the volumne)
That game costs 5$. I downloaded a demo of it, and it rocks!

No it is not. Cheaper, POSSIBLY. Depending on how you spend I will concede that the 360 is slightly cheaper. But for stronger and better, no.

The 360 DOES NOT support MMORPGS, RTS, City/Empire Building, or any of even the most basic functions of a computer (Web access, email, downloading, IM, etc etc) That eliminates it from the "better" category.

Currently only top of the line gaming PCs beat out the 360 BUT in about 6-8 months, advancing computer technology will out-strip the 360. Which wont get an upgrade untill the next console comes out. So while the 360 stagnates, the PC advances every day.

Mod, shmod, if the reinvented games were so good, then why don't the game makers create the game like that?
What the hell do you think map editors are?
