  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Some followers of Jesus said they wished it had happened because it would have caused folks to turn to Christ. Though I understand it does happen that way, I"ve wondered about that type of attitude. Your thoughts?

Personally believe people are touched more when they become aware of God's love. But open to your input.

Australia is likely the best place on earth to live. It's also one the hardest places to witness for Christ. Most people (until recently) live like kings compared to most of the world. Life has got harder over the last few years. There is still little incentive for people to look to God for help. People are too full, too satisfied, too content. Corona virus might change that. We will see.

I was not saved on account of God's love. I was saved because I saw that I was a sinner with no hope of getting into heaven. Shallow and selfish? You bet. Do I care? No. God saves sinners. How and why is irrelevant.

But do people want God's love? And when do they become aware of God's love?

When everything falls apart and when they become aware of their sinful nature causing them to repent because then they become aware of their need for God's forgiveness, mercy, love, and grace.

I think our focus should be on God's love. It's His goodness-kindness that leads us to repentance. Jesus had that focus, and in its context He gave warnings. But to wish for planes full of passengers to drop out of the sky, so as to bring people to Christ? No, I don't think that's the right spirit.

In order to keep myself as clean as possible, I will pray for unbelievers' free repentance, and failing that, I release the matter to God and pray He would do whatever is necessary to bring them to Him. I find that both an effective and a safe prayer.

We don't know how true "foxhole conversions" will prove to be, anyway. A sinner's prayer under duress, even when it is a viable start, should not be our end goal; rather should be a knowing, understanding, deepening commitment.

And how attractive is it, anyway, to know that the Christians across the street were praying for the disaster that brought civil unrest or even killed your family, so that you would be bludgeoned to come to Christ? What kind of God does that present to them? It seems to me people don't think these things through too well.
