If Christmas was never a biblical holy day Christ was never in Christmas to begin with. It all seems so silly....but, if you like being silly, you go for it! lol
Well I have this Christmas decision in a different manner than others, but no matter who you are, if you live in a western country, which I do, you find it is only polite to entertain the giving of gifts to co-workers and such.
This year, that particular entertainment will be doubly expected I suppose, from those who know I am a Christian now.
So I was thinking, on the day of my birth this year, about the day called Christmas and I came to some personal conclusions for what I will personally do.
In my tradition the birthday person has no chores on that day, and a nice meal, whatever the favorite meal is, and if there is enough money even a small gift.
But... on the day of Christs birth what would you really give to Christ - should he be in the gift receiving business? And I found the gifts to give to Christ, and also how to give to others - corny though it may be.
Plus, they are gifts to be giving all throughout the year, and "presented" on Christmas. What I decided is to do all manner of various Charity work, helping in soup kitchens, food pantries, and homeless shelters - then presenting that time, to various people as their Christmas gift.
Presenting the gifts like : I worked "however many hours" at "such and such shelter" in your name.". and really do it, and offer the work to/for Jesus in someone elses name.. rather than our own..
I think it works! So its what I will do I believe... I know that we have no control over whose account it gets accounted... but it IS for HIS birthday supposedly so I think it should be at least what He wants - and its just a way for me to combine my belief, with the traditions of others.
