• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Okay IDK if I have BP but, doc's at the IP said that I do. Now I am always depressed...then I will get a mood lift and feel happy but, not high just kinda normal.

I noticed that I am having rapid mood swings which is making me just want to lay in bed and sleep. I don't know what to do. I am on gabapentin and Valproic acid but it just ain't working. IDK. I'm getting sick of these rapid mood swings.

Mood swings are terrible. Well, the highs aren't bad--at least for the person experiencing them. Unless you get too high, then you hit the gas thinking you are in the General Lee, fly across the state, have 20 girlfriends, major in everything, think you are a god, you get mad at anyone who disagrees with your creativity, the police are called, and you giggle away the night in jail. Depression and sleep suck bigtime.

Interesting. No drug use? Really rapid mood swings that make you want to sleep. If you are even mildly manic, you don't sleep. Mixed episodes are a mixed bag. They can be like being energetic and depressed at the same time. In the early stage of the game, I'd bet everyone thinks even the wildest mania is normal.

Interesting drug choice too. Never had either one. But I would think they might put you to sleep. Are you epileptic too or something? I don't know a lot about this stuff, I'm just saying it is an interesting combination of stuff you said. Saying mood swing definitely would put one on to the bipolar idea and depression definitely is some sort of mood disorder. I mean, there are always other ideas out there to consider. And they probably know what they are doing and considered alternatives from what you said to them. There's quite a range of bipolars too. I'm just going on the feeling I get that you aren't too sure. But then whoever just up and agrees?

I don't know, maybe some do. I'm sure some others will be more helpful. Good luck.

So, you just found out that you have Bipolar Disorder? How long have you been on those meds?
I say this because you usually need to give the medication a certain amt. of time to start kicking in, and doing it's job. It's different for various meds. Make sure you give it enough time....unless your having some crazy, serious side effects.
After it's been awhile, if it isn't working then I'm sure you're doc. will adjust things.
