As opinion on the design, and I'm no expert, I think it looks like a modern interpretation of a crater or a hole in the ground. So no, I don't like it.

I don t care for any of his building shown in that article except for the Jewish one in Germany. I don t know about the hole either but I find the concept of a wll that does not cast a shadow at the time of the attack intriguing. he is certainly a very creative man.

This design has absolutely no redeeming features at all. What is it trying to say? Where is its aesthetic appeal?

Are people honestly expected to pay money for this thing?

I would say that He is uniquely qualified to design this building.

art is totally objective. what you love I hate and vice versa. But who pays for it is a good question. Ahh our tax dollars at work.

Nobody's doubting that he is uniquely qualified to design this building. But that doesn't make it a good one by default.

I preferred that other tentative design which looked like a rocket. That one had some real imagination behind it.

This other thing looks like Bauhaus on steroids.

I haven t seen the rocket one. The hole wont remain just dirt fro long if nature is allowed to work. have you ever noticed how quickly grass and small plants start to cover bare dirt ?

This design shows no imagination at all. The other design was much better, IMO.

I don't like it myself.....I liked several of the other preliminary designs by different firms, but to me this one is too conservative height wise. To me it says "We are too scared to build something really tall again" Sure it has that single spire, but that doesn't really count.

IMO what we really need is another tall building that says "You have't broken our spirit".

But that's just me.

I think it is too conservative, it needs to be taller. It also needs to be more practical and pragmatic, instead of just a glass tower.

I think that it's the least gaudy of the competition, though, I'm not particularly fond of it either.

I seen the design at cnn and it looks pretty cool. They are leaving out the hollowed out portion as a memorium. Plus the symbolism between the hight of the buildings (1,776 feet) is pretty cool!
