Does anyone enjoy writing praise and worship songs/christian music?
Do you also like to write the music? It is more challenging to me, as I am still learning....any comments suggestions?

How exciting!
I used to write more music, but ended up without outlets to use it. My lyrics and music also got too complicated for appropriate church worship music. Half of the congregation wants easy or predictable music, the other half wants something new and fresh, so you balance that.

Even though it seems to be cheating to use scriptures, there's power in God's word. You can write music that you hope will accomplish something in the spirit. God inhabits the praises of his people, so plain old worship is good too...just watch out for too much repetition or cliches that will make some people snooze.

i wanna start a hard rock christian band cause i don't know of any really good ones, but its hard writing aggresive or hard lyrics with a christian theme wrapped around it but it ain't impossibe... i just have trouble putting lyrics to music and making it sound 'just' right if you know what i mean...

Yeah, it's hard, because each music genre has it's own sound. It's really akward trying to fit a message with something so heavy. My recommendation: don't compose for a genre- just compose.

Hi, Thanks for the reply, No-- I use the scriptures. The Lord gives me the lyrics/and usually the melody... so it is sort of the song of the Lord! Which is a good cause it does accomplish the anointing and in that it breaks yokes, and a work in the spirit. I don't have much platform to sing. I'm being perfected there....


I think when you get in a church setting...people get bored. don't you think? if you had to worry about what everyone thought it would be defeating...but I encourage you to continue to write what God gives you, sounds like you have a ministers heart.
Do you have much experience in recording on the computer with your music? I play keyboard, and would like to get it on recording. Thanks..Tamara77777 praisingonpiano

I think its great, if God has called you to that...He will cause you to have the anointing to reach out to the kids, cause it is really about that...not just starting a rock band....you have to look at your motivations about singing.

It is hard to put lyrics to music, but when God gives you the lyrics, ask him to give you the music too....then just make the sounds He gives, and practice, practice, practice...and leave the results in His hands. Don't be too hard on yourself....cause God can take your desire to create and bless you beyond your beliefs, if your serious. take your relationship with Lord to another level and ask Him to give you a deeper relationship. That is where the depth of your music/ministry will come from, your relationship with JESUS! YOu know what I mean? this is meant to help you to start....a christian band...cause your leadership should start with integrity, and tell those who want to participate that they need to take it serious....cause it is ministry to people! I wish you the best, and pray God would help you in every area....don't give up if it is truly what you feel He wants you to do.

YOu know dealing with issues regarding sin, can be aggressive, and it would be a good place to start, with the heart....look at what you could do for the kingdom and ask God to give you the words, and pray for the songs that He would anoint them to reach young and old alike....that would be a good start...

same. Some people are musically inclinced, some lyrically inclined.
