I was wondering how many of you write everyday, or at least quite often, and how much would you usually write at one time?

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi, liesje; Ive enjoyed your posts. 
I try to write six days a week, and my ideal quota is 3,000 words. For a while I was making it reliably, but lately Ive had a lot of disruptions (not all of them unwanted, by a long shot). I hope--being the eternal optimist--to get back to my regular schedule soon, despite the holiday rush.
How about you? Do you write every day?
PS: I love your tag! C. S. Lewis is my all-time favorite writer. I found some online recordings of him, and listened to them last night. They were phenomenal!!

I don't write every day. I've always loved writing, but it's only in the last few months that I've really got into it. I have a story that I've been working on for three months or so and it's nearly 4000 words, so that'll give you an idea about how often I write! I also have another two stories going at the moment though as well. I'm a bit busy with exams and such at the moment, so I'm hoping to get more into my writing after that. I have times when I don't write for a few weeks and times when I'm inspired and write until the small hours of the morning. I've still got to learn to write whether or not I'm inspired.
I love CS Lewis, his Narnia series is simply brilliant, and I'm enjoying Mere Christianity as well. He has a way of being able to explain things in a very simple way without making you feel stupid! I like a lot of the 'classics' (I don't know if you'd count Lewis and Tolkien as classics?) Shakespeare, Jane Austen...

Hi again, liesje. Four thousand words is not insignificant, especially considering you have two other stories going at the same time. Are they all in the same genre, I wonder? Are they fantasy?
An excerpt of Mere Christianity was one of the readings, by Lewis Himself, I listened to last night. It's one thing to read it, but another experience altogether to hear him read it himself. I'll never forget it!
I can only speak for myself, but I certainly consider Lewis and Tolkien classics. I love Shakespeare too, especially Hamlet. I have really slacked when it comes to Austin, though. Around three months ago I bought my very first Austin novel, Pride and Prejudice, but I have yet to read the first line. [I love all the movies, btw.] Which of her novels is your favorite?
Well I'm getting ready to go out of state for Thanksgiving, so I probably won't be posting any more until Friday. Happy writing in the meantime!
PS: Guess what I have all ready for the five hour drive? The Horse and His Boy, on CD, as read by two-time Olivier Award winning Royal Shakespearian actor Alex Jennings. I am VERY excited!!

Oh Shakespeare is just brilliant. I love King Lear and Macbeth, but Hamlet's very good too. I've read most of Jane Austen's novels, Pride and Prejudice is my favourite. You should read it, its very good. If you've watched the BBC version of Pride and Prejudice, you'll find the book is very similar. The new P & P movie isn't as good. It doesn't have so much time to get the characters right.

It has very strong parallels to some of Tolkien's work though.

I don't write everyday. I haven't written in a while because I have been to busy. But when I write I will write about 1000 to abou 3000 words at a time.

Thanks for the Austin tip. Ill try to get P & P started sooner than later. The old black and white Lawrence Olivier version of Pride and Prejudice is still, imho, the best ever made. Olivier is also probably the main reason Im besotted with Hamlet. I read an excellent commentary on it, and then watched Oliviers screen version. I Fell In Love!!! (Not with Olivier, but with his depiction of Hamlet.) Lear and Macbeth are fabulous also. I wonder if they arent two of the most frequently cited pieces of literature on earth?
The Alex Jennings' reading of The Horse and His Boy was AWESOME!! Whatever they paid him couldnt have been enoughhe was sensational!!! Now I am completely and massively hooked; I want to hear ALL the Chronicles of Narnia read by famous British actors. The only other one I own is Voyage of the Dawn Treader. My next major goal is to make the rest appear, in CD form, under my Christmas tree.
PS: I havent seen the BBC version of P & P. Ill try to find a copy, though I doubt it will be easy/cheap.
PPS: Eragon has suffered the same fate as P & P, though for far longer. I bought a hard cover copy several years ago, and havent even read the first line yet.

Yeah I really do play the violin, so if you have any questions just PM me and I will try and answer them. I've been playing for 5 years so I know quite abit about them.
I worked it out, that on average so far I write 34 words a day on my novel.

Hi again, Kiwi. Thanks for offering to make your expertise available on a consultation basis. I will keep that generous offer in mind! The violin is my favorite instrument, and I really admire anyone who can play it. It's not an easy instrument to master. Btw, have you ever watched the Youtube video of Joshua Bell giving a free mini concert in the Washington D. C. Metro (subway/tube/underground) during rush hour? It's pretty sad. People just race past him without a glance. Finally a lone woman stops and listens until he finishes. Then she remarks that she saw him perform at the Library of Congress, and he was fabulous. It's a poignant moment.

Sometimes I write every day, and sometimes I go several weeks without writing anything. Usually, though, I'm somewhere in between.
Ideally, I like to write something at least five days a week, preferably around one thousand words a day; but I'll settle for a hundred words some days. Depends on how inspired/busy/distracted/determined I am.

Yeah, I work sort of similarly. Some days I have time and churn out a ton, but more often than not I do a couple paragraphs a week if I've been busy.

I write about thirty minutes of the hour I have for lunch every day, then I write for about two to four hours every night before I go to bed. I write till I'm tired of looking at words on white, then I eventually stop. Sleep is good.
