Hi there. I'm a writer too. I don't write as much now due to being in the final year of my studies at university, but I have a ton of ideas for novels, scripts etc that I hope to work on when I have the time. My main outlet for my writing at the moment (other than essays and exams lol) is poetry. :)

Hi everyone

Mankin, good work on your book, its been a while since you last posted, how is it coming along now? As to everyone else, i would love to read your poetry and stories!

I myself am also a writer and have been since a young age, starting with short stories and an occasional poem. I find that I enjoy stories more. I am currently working on a book that I feel the Holy Spirit is guiding me in. It is a compilation of both fiction and fact. With the characters based on real people in my life and their experiences, although i have altered some things. It is centered in the last days, an apocalyptic book if you will, and deals with many strong spiritual factors, and subliminal biblical lessons and teachings. I would in fact recommend a rating such as pg-13 because it is very intense and i'm sure spiritual attack may result as many secrets are exposed, and that i have been under such since i began writing. I will post bits in here if you would like, but i mostly just wanted to join this group! Thanks a bunch!

Hi. I'm glad to have located this thread. I started freelancing this year (non-fiction) and I've really enjoyed networking with other writers. I haven't found any Christian groups yet, so this is a great discovery for me. Nice to meet you all!

I had no idea this thread was still alive. Been a while eh?

Anyway the book I posted about a while back I've kinda put on a back shelf. I still work on it from time to time, but I generally think of it as a bit too much of a sterotypical fantasy novel. I've written the entire story but more editing is still needed.

Atm, I'm writing fan fics.

Hi all!

I have an idea for a short story that is a fictionalized version of Jesus' temptation in the desert by Satan. Instead of taking place in a desert, it would take place in a forest, at a campfire. It would make no direct reference to anything biblical but the reader would eventually figure out who the characters are supposed to be.

There would be only two characters in this story, a young man called Shepherd and a mysterious nocturnal visitor called Hobb. Hobb is not human-- he's another kind of entity that has taken control of a human body. Shepherd has seen him in dreams and is not surprised when Hobb shows up for real. But is it for real? Was Shepherd actually visited by a flesh & bone person or was it all a hallucination? No way to be sure, since Shep had deliberately pitched camp in a very secluded spot.

Thoughts?
Suggestions?

I feel like I can't write this story without someone's help.

I've been in trouble lately for trying to promote a book, my first, that I just completed. Had a booksigning on saturday in asheville, nc and mgrs. said it was the most books they had ever seen sold at a booksigning. I am thinking of parking here for a while and see if this club could help me chill out a bit and be useful. cheers!

Deception of Magic is an action packed, humorous fantasy that combines fantasy action with scripture and theology. Topics such as salvation, pride, forgiveness, prayer, and much more, are discussed with scriptural support. From Chapter 19 -

Inside the Elven Throne Room
“You say with your lips what is right and good, yet in your hearts you think it is foolishness. You claim you know me, yet I deny knowing you. Repent, or I will destroy the elves. Every tree shall be cut down and consumed with fire, and the river will overflow with the blood of the elves before the fullness of the greater moon. Humans will refuse to farm this land for seven generations, and the gorm shall call it cursed for three. Dwarves shall cast lots, with the loser entering this land with great trembling.”
“Yet, because of the love your kings had for me in times long past, I will grant one last chance. Search and understand, seek wisdom. What turns aside the wrath of God? Did I not say draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. Judgment is upon you, for who can escape my wrath? Yet to the humble will I show mercy, to the weak will I give strength. Heed the words of my maiden, for your time is short.”
It was deathly silent in the throne room when Lily finished speaking the word from the Lord of the Stars. She hung her head and looked at the floor in front of her feet, golden hair hiding her face.
“Read every word she said back for everyone to hear,” the Elven King said while pointing to an elf that was documenting everything in a large book. The king’s face looked very troubled. An elf with glasses stood up, holding his large book in front of his face. His voice boomed out through the throne room.
“Your majesty, I know this dream because the same dream was shown to me. This is what your dream….”
When he concluded her testimony, the elf with the long purple robes began to speak. “The true God has spoken to me, and He has called this human female a liar and a blasphemer.” His large staff that had a tip of a silver cross was pointing directly at Lily. Extreme anger showed in his face and eyes.
Standing strong in her faith, Lily lifted her head, locking her eyes on the elven priest. “Your church of idolatry is no more,” she said in a low, meek voice. As soon as she spoke, the ground shook. For several long seconds, the throne room swayed back and forth. A loud, crashing noise reverberated through the throne room, followed by a thunderous boom that echoed throughout the Elven City.

I've written four YA novels, but I haven't published any of them. I probably won't be able to unless I overcome my depression and anxiety. The world of professional publishing is rough.

But I do have a blog I started recently at bobbysbeliefs dot blogspot dot com, which looks at different elements of the Christian faith. Plus, I write articles for the tech/innovation digital magazine Nvate. (Nvate dot com) I also keep a journal. A big, big journal! :)
