  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

write something nonsensical, surreal, silly.

"...welcome to the modern day world of on-line writing humans..." went the goblin, adding "...ah yes, you may lament your hearts out at this point, but you'll only be joining those previous who lamented this present trend, and those who will in their turn decry the future now...", in fact, the goblin was simply a realist who understood that one has to compromise towards writing on forumland, saying "...have you ever stopped to wonder why so few writers ever build up any sort of direct readership across forumland, where you would have thought that their posts would have everyone, aka their readers now, eagerly following them, where, without my saying more, perhaps it's time to stop shooting the messenger for the writing on the wall and perhaps start heeding the message instead..."

brinny ponders on what the bottom-line message is....

("...yes I like that quote very much..." went the goblin almost free now, adding "...just one more post then...")

"...what you see here..." the goblin started "...is simply a persona made up of four components then, "username" "avatar" "writing style" and "content"...", yet the goblin knew that it was all far too complicated to explain what livewriting was about in one post, only that the livewriters tended to keep everything uniform across forumland, perhaps as a self marketing ploy on the one hand, or more likely just as something to keep things easy for themselves, so the goblin opened up, saying "...well, the username has to be uncommon enough to turn up one's other threads in a google search as mine does, thought not too difficult for someone to remember it, the avatar, in my case a penguin, expresses both my current linux os and my position towards copywrite here, that I write for myself remaining anonymous throughout, whereas writing in third person simply forces the writer to choose a mask, a goblin in this case, which lastly leaves content, and content is the most crucial part of all four components, for without it, the other three become meaningless...", oh and yes, the goblin had been right, he hadn't explained the half of it, but that didn't matter he guessed because normal people didn't ever read this far either

"...oh yes, there's always one in one's schooldays isn't there..." continuing "...that too thin quiet child who's always coughing and out of breath in the school yard at playtime..." said the goblin remembering him now, repeating it then "...just one more kid from younger another class now, looking smaller still though, and quiet, reserved, nothing much, except for that open-secret about him...", the goblin thought back for a moment and then continued "...no, in school you could be fat, ugly, or whatever and still get teased for it, but this was different, no one said a word out of place, except that he was out of place or more exactly out of time, and then, after a while he didn't show up in the playground anymore, and the rumor went around that he was in hospital again, till that morning, where gathered at assembly, we were told that he is no longer with us...", and the goblin would have forgotten all this still, if a picture hadn't suddenly reminded him of it, concluding "...and what snakes and ladders all these pictures searches become, just that the illustrator's eye enhances associations and flashbacks that one had all but forgotten..."

(having reached his 50th post, the goblin would now add the pictures to the texts, simply he was just editing his posts again, saying "...I'll chat in brackets above and then place the work below like now for example...")

repost from elsewhere

I like your thread goblin
"...nah, this isn't my thread either, it's just an edit thread here, anyone can post to it..." replied the goblin who wanted to openly share this thread then, saying "...the trouble with me is that there are two of us, one me who writes directly between brackets where things generally fall foul to those slings and arrows of outrageous dyslexia, and then there's that other me, who reposts stuff that has been clearly ironed out with some matching picture added, basically the publishing me, against the posting me perhaps, where both mes have their merits/demerits then...", simply, the goblin, in his madness, actually believed that it was a journey to self here, and yes, it was true that the goblin had seen his dailylife for the rat-race it actually was, and yet, instead of "stopping to smell the flowers on the way", now he was writing about those same flowers then, as if the rat-race had been replaced by the rat's very own "freestyle composition with matching picture in less that 50 words please" benchmark here, yet either way, the rat just scurried on it seemed totally unable to stop itself

repost from the goblin's blog

"...something stronger than now remains,..." and with this bland belief the goblin faced the life to come, somehow the goblin could not believe that all this had no point, the nursing home, his mother's dementia and the ebbing of the remaining time, all this should at least mean more than just "now", perhaps the goblin should have said "...something stronger than me remains..." but it was hard for the goblin to imagine a future without a "me" or a "now", in other people yes but not about himself, his vanity invented loopholes that his reason couldn't accept, goblins it seemed were no different from the rest of us then.

the goblin's blog

the television thunders through the house on to the now leafless hedge, oh yes that same evening program: that perky medily followed by "...timeteam has just three days to find out if this plot of land was laid waste by the yolkels because the owner actually sold organic coffee...", not that the goblin had ever paid much attention to it but he knows those voices by heart, there was that guy who plays bauldric who always says "...dayone and what I don't know is..." or "... dayone and what I can't understand is...", at which point the goblin's mother would ask what it is all about to which the goblin would explain that it is something that even the presenter isn't sure about, oh and then a man in green with a think country accent says "...airezabe lots of rubbish and we'zadigging on then..." giving the goblin's mother a second chance to ask "...what's it all about..." the goblin explains that they have dug a hole and it is a lot of rubbish, and after that there is a girl "...wow look what I have found..." as she holds some object to which the presenter says "...well that I think that proves it conclusively..." to which the goblin would then explain to his mother that 'the thing that the presenter didn't understand was, since the hole had been dug and an object found, ample proof that it was in fact true', whereupon the Ten O'clock News would follow, and where by the looks of things the goblin just concluded that he was still watching the Timeteam program again

But tell me this oh foul and evil goblin thing, what is the point? I mean at the end of the day nothing ever changes, nothing we do really matters. So, why bother? Why do we exist? Wouldn't the world be better off without us?

the goblin hailed the queen of the zombies for her presence "... yes, a cheap person might be dissuaded by an argument of life's futility, that, or by some grand promise of heaven or some dire threat of hell..." said that goblin who made a point of caring far less for what lies ahead of him than for caring for that which lied within him, so the goblin continued "...so don't you want to know who you are by what you post then in spite of there being no point perhaps..."

So who is going to tell me who I am, and does who I am really matter? Can I use the knowledge of who I am to effect any change in the world, to do good or to help people? I see no point in any of this, all we manage is to destroy and hurt!
"...no one can tell me for sure who I am, but perhaps a reflection of who I am is shown of me in what I do in my dailylife and shown of my alter ego within the words I choose to write here upon the forum..." said the goblin knowing that an awareness is grown from facing the slot like this, he continued "...the conditioning of dailylife and the moneygod are exactly those which make one blind to oneself, and insensitive to others, so simply that constant question of "what in my life is worth posting" is not a religion so much just a counter conditioning tool here,...", and with that the goblin thought back to the lupusbots site's "last post" thread wondering what someone could give anyone in their situation beyond listening and knocking them off last place on the "last post" thread there then, but they always posted back

from his dear all diary, 5th September 1996

Dear all,
Oddly, the two responsibilities of "bringing up" and "bringing in" remind me as a parent of the offerings of Cain and Abel, how much more the offering of "bringing in"(the money) burns with a brighter flame, so I am grateful that we live in an age where the clear cut roles of "father brings in" while "mother brings up" have blurred to the point where each parent does both, at least now I can understand the little thankless flame of "bringing up" is far warmer in its unappreciated way.

Oh laughter that clever thief that steals the bitterness from our tears.
And love that makes fools of men and men of fools
And peace that may find shelter in a poor man's house but absent in the mansions.
What is this fear that leads to our brothers crawling under hails of bullets
and planting a blood stained flag on land that belongs to all of our human family
Is the lamp of wisdom dimming and the message of freedom thinning?

repost from the goblin's blog

cold-spell casts geneva to fog, its gray somehow blurring into the blank and becoming an appropriate backdrop to this then: the goblin's D-day with the dentist, well not really, it's that first year dental student "... hi there, call me benny hill, please sit down, comfortable..." as he whips out a syringe with a smile and a style straight out Hitchcock's psycho shower scene "...now stay still, no need to clinch the chair tight like that, this will only take a moment...", smiles, looks puzzled, takes another look at the ex-ray, grasps the idea, nods his head, smiles again, stabs and injects "...there that wasn't too bad was it, now I am just going to clear out that cavity..." the goblin feels as if he is going very slowly up the highest roller coaster ride in his life, the student drills a bit, retracts to drill, makes golf swings in the air "...yes, like that I think, how am I doing..." the goblin dare not reply, he drills on "...rinse please mr. flea..." puts bibs and bobs the goblin's mouth, drills then whoops, out comes a small white gyrating object on the end of his drillhead "...whoops, sorry, we'll just put another cotton swab in then won't we...", but the goblin stupidly replies "... actually could we try a sandbag..." a joke which seems to earn him a gag they call a dig but is in fact an ancient chinese water-torture where goblins slowly drown in their own saliva while probably singing to themselves "...o come all yee spacemen...", ride over, the goblin returns to reality whatever that ever was
