  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

write something nonsensical, surreal, silly.

"...oh yes, I was quite ill back then, yet I'm quite back to abnormal now..." replied the goblin thanking her for staying the course, adding "...moreover, it looks like I got banned from another forum today, seems they did some background check on me, can't figure it out though, brinny you wouldn't happen to be a wanted terrorist by any chance, just asking now..."

"Strange talking to a goblin," said the monkey as he absent-mindedly scratched his head; "particularly one who spouts wisdom and truth mixed with rye wit..." [taking a moment to collect his thoughts]... "I always knew there were lions and tigers, I even believed those stories about giant lizards in the river, and of course those darned demons never leave us alone... but goblins, now... hmmmph! Now that makes you rethink things just a bit! HA!"

interesting, food4thought....looking forward to yer postings.

Thanks Brinny. I work 3rds so it's about my bedtime. I'll pop in every now and then but between work and college I don't have much time for posting here, and I like to answer questions on the outreach forum, too.

God bless;
Mike

("...copy away..." replied the goblin, liking the monkey's talent straight off, adding "...where I'm not the only livewriter now, and where many write in third person too, borrowing from the bookworld those facets of narration and illustration then, where my goal if any is terribly selfish, in that the more I get you to write as you would actually like, rather than how you should, the more I get posts worth reading, in short I feed to read, that all...")

repost from elsewhere, the goblin welcoming someone

so have no fear of goblins...
"...ah no, I was just not to be trusted, never to be feared now..." replied the goblin welcoming xxxxx this sunny afternoon, adding "...no the problem is that if one writes in third person, which admittedly is far more fun than doing all these very standard posts here, one has to pick a persona for oneself and stick to it, because even in choosing no persona at all, it still becomes a persona by it, the persona of an enigma perhaps, so one has to pick something to represent oneself by, that's all...", in fact, the goblin often thought that many writers missed their big chance of enticing readers to their pens by writing so straight laced that the reader thought that they were just addressing someone quite ordinary, whereupon the goblin simply mentioned "...one of the fastest growing writer's forums on forumland, with some of the best writers too, now all one has to do is show those readers who one is by what one posts, and by how one posts it too...", and with that the goblin gave xxxxx a token of his friendship by saying "...you see, on forumland one's persona, far more than one's username, is remembered, where those who write like every one else are "just like everyone else" thus "like everyone else" is all that it becomes, so think of it as a recognizable persona with traceable username as the first two legs of a tripod, the third leg being constant flow of content...", but that was the goblin for you, just another unhinged poster like everyone else here it seemed

repost from elsewhere, the "trumping the writer stereotype" thread

I've worked with a lot of writers, and the one thing they all have in common is that they're nothing like that. 99.9% of writers are ordinary people. 0.1% make headlines.
the goblin agreed since he imagined that both psychopaths and schizophrenics shared that same normalness with the writertypes here, where to all intents and purposes, indeed they looked and acted quite normally, and yet, under certain circumstances their true nature would suddenly burst through resulting in dead bodies and inexplicable behavior in the former, and write-ups about dead bodies and inexplicable behavior in the latter, yes those thrillers and mystery novels then, in fact, the goblin often had difficulty trying to picture what was the norm amongst humans anyway, saying "...somehow the more normal it gets the more surreal it becomes..."

the outreach forum? Where?

"Let me see..." said the monkey, digging through his napsack; "AHA! Here it is: http://www.christianforums.com/f272/ , the place I show up most often is on the "Exploring Christianity" forum."

"Lots of interesting questions posed there... people seem to think monkeys like me have all the answers! Well, we do our best, but I'm sure many go away disappointed with the answers they receive. It should be noted that there are some that come there looking to spout their anti-god talking points, with no real intention of receiving answers, only arguments... once I know one of them, I just stay away from their posts, and I recommend that others do the same."

("...nah, I tend to listen to whatever's going..." replied the goblin liking the monkey's style, adding "...simply, it is good to learn from the enemy especially where religion needs to reach out to the masses, so I'll converse with the devil where I have to, just I won't follow him now, so bigotry alienates where listening builds up a faith based upon the bedrock of one's own understand...", but the goblin had overstepped himself again and went back to posting now)

repost from elsewhere

"...the question is a simple one..." mentioned the goblin again, asking "...how does one get the most from the post, if and where the post is neither narrated nor illustrated, so my goals remain unchanged, they are a writer's way with words, an illustrator's eye, and an internet-self...", so the goblin felt the banski was right in doing his graffiti both illegally, and as an unknown too, where otherwise one would not have his works now, especially when the internet is under attack in congress by those who would wish to rein it in for their corporate copyright crap, in other words just another "the king's stamp act for colonists" then, adding "...you see, some people do graffiti because most people simply accept that they have no right to, yet whose post is it anyway, and must I conform my writingstyle to their norm..."

I recognize it now. It's the same forum i gravitate towards to pray for the requests of the hurting who do not know or understand who God is or even if there is a God. Although i have been on the section you speak of occasionally. i had forgotten the name of it. I steer clear of debating usually because of the one-upmanship that seems to be at play there. And about "us" having all the answers, well the more we munch on His Word, like the spiritual manna that it is, and gaze into His face, the more we realize that it's kinda sad and belies our finite reasoning and wisdom that we would think that we have all the answers. isn't it? After all, it's about Him, and not us, brother in Christ and son of the Most High God, amen?

Watching a program about training dogs to be companions for our veterans struggling with PTSD. Our "wounded warriors" are matched up with dogs trained to interrupt nightmares, and gently minister during panic attacks. It reminds me of the ongoing debate about whether animals go to heaven when they die. my question is, why wouldn't they? it is written that God created animals in the beginning and that all was very good. Then there was the "fall", with the curse and with it all of earth, including the animals are destined for death. Yet, there is the "restoration" that spun the curse, including death, backwards. This means that all is "restored", as in animals, of course, being on the scene. God loved them from the gitgo. i believe He created them because he delights in them. His "delighting" in something is not temporal, but eternal. i also believe that is why we delight in animals. cuz we inherited that trait from our heavenly Father. Me, i'm convinced that animals that minister to us are sort of 'angels unawares'. Why else would they be such delightful presences in our lives?

My problem is I’m kind of floating in limbo. I met most of my friends while riding the bike. I left my phone in the hospital and I don’t know where most of them live. They probably think I killed myself on the bike one day, I just fell off the Earth. Hurricane Katrina compounded that, it scattered people all over the place, hell there’s relatives I still haven’t seen since the storm. I’m trying to make new friends but I don’t know where and being disabled ain’t helping any.

"...ah but it is not so human, for what is so where it cannot be proved..." replied the goblin, thinking of j m barrie, continuing "...that is, that our forumland is simply whatever one portrays of oneself here, forumland is just the sum total of all these portrayals then, where you have no disability whatsoever bar the one you carry around with you, so dump it and let the slot become your moterbike anew, letting these threads pass below your wheels now on that fabled journey to self once more...", somehow that line if you can't live without it then you are not ready for it summed up the goblin approach always, adding "...race you then, think you can catch me human, I do want you to..."
