Would you vote for a Mormon...

Absolutely..if my options are:

1. Another 4 years of Obama with no business experience, a disciple of Wrights church of BLT, totally incompetent and morally debased, or

2. A Morman that has extensive business experience and has moral standards i.e. pro-life, etc.

I will not be using a litmus test regarding faith for the next election, if Obama is re-elected the USA will be so weakened that it may never recover, if indeed it's not already too late.

Not (knowingly) in this lifetime nor the the next. It's not because I hate Mormons because I don't hate them (though I do strongly disagree with em), it's because I believe and think what we as a country need in the White House, is a good strong dose of Christianity. Maybe I am too much of an idealist, just not realistic, but I would like to see America get back more to her roots. Unfortunately, God will probably have to bring her down to her knees to do it, if it even goes down like that. *sigh*

Shall we give, or shall we not give? But he, knowing their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a penny, that I may see it.
And they brought it. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? And they said unto him, Caesar's. And Jesus answering said unto them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's. And they marvelled at him. Mark 12: 15-17

To be the President of the United States?
That's a good question. Right now, Romney and Huntsman are still in the hunt for the Republican nomination. I wouldn't vote for Huntsman because he's way too liberal. As for Romney, that's a tough call.

What does it mean to be a Mormon? The following website compares Mormonism and traditional Christianity:

A Comparison Between Christian Doctrine and Mormon Doctrine|Mormonism Does Not Agree with the Bible | Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry

To be a Mormon, you have to suspend belief in the Bible and believe a fairytale written by Joseph Smith in 1830. If you believe that Joseph Smith was deceived by a "pillar of light", that light must be demonic in nature. If former Gov. Romney can be deceived about his faith or where he places his faith, can we trust him to run our government?

From a purely humanistic standpoint, the Mormon people seem extremely nice, at least from my experience. Is this enough to vote for one as President? Or does gullibility and membership in a cult disqualify him?

Actually, if I can't have a Christian like Bachmann or Cain, I'd like someone who is a little rough around the edges. That isn't anybody in the field of eight Republicans. Perry's not ready for prime time, Newt is okay but I don't think he's electable. The same with Rep. Paul and former Sen. Santorum. The Republicans besides Bachmann and Cain I like are Haley Barbour, Marco Rubio, Bobby Jindal, Mitch Daniels, Sarah Palin, and a few others. That's where I'm at, at least right now.

So you would not vote for a Mormon as POTUS even if it meant Obama would be given another 4 years to continue his destruction of our country and economy? Is that correct?

Sure, I will vote against Obama. Honestly I would like to see an independent party rise up and win the election, a conservative Christian party, but we both know the chances of that happening are slim to none. Too many non-Christian and anti-Christian liberals (yeah I know there are liberal Christians...I'll stay out of that one) in the country. Especially in the past 50 or so years there has been a continual attack aimed at suppressing Christianity.

I suppose I would unenthusiastically vote for a republican mormon if it means voting out a liberal friend of promoting peace with islam...but it's taking the lesser evil route if you ask me. Mormons are waaaaaaay out there in their most basic belief about the nature of God, but at least they're not at war with Christianity like devoted Islam followers are.

I cannot see how a mormon candidate could pull the votes of women, at least women whom have a basic understanding of how the mormon religion and practitioners have suppressed women and children generally speaking. I have read some heart wrenching stories from former mormons. Why the powers that be of the republican party cannot perceive this is beyond me.

If a Mormon gets the nod from the Republican party this sure does put us in a tough situation morally.

We all know that people in office work to advance their personal agendas as well. So the Mormons would be all over the White House the second one was sworn in. On the other hand is Obama who is the antithesis of every good thing.

I would not vote for a Mormon for President
I would not vote for a muslim, a jew, a wiccan, a buddhist or an athiest for president either

I do not always agree with Protestants, but I respect and love you as brothers in Christ
(on a side note, I am not too fond of the only President we have had who was Catholic)

Fair enough, let's hope it doesen't come down to having to vote for a Mormon, thanks for your reply brother.

Without going OT, I wouldn't say Huntsman is anymore liberal than Romney. Unlike Governor Romney, Governor Huntsman has been always pro-life, never signed Obama-Romneycare law in his state. Although he has a liberal reputation, both from Democrats and Republicans, I believe it is unfair.

Is Mormonism nowadays anymore a cult than any other false religion? (I mean mainstream Mormons, not the FLDS).

I'm afraid Cain probably wouldn't be electable-I don't see people responding well to the 9-9-9 plan.

The 9-9-9 plan is being revised. This happens all the time in the long nomination process. I don't think he's done anything to make him unelectable ... yet. I don't think the same can be said about Perry and it's getting too late for someone else to jump in. Huntsman, Bachmann (I'd still vote for her), and Santorum are unelectable. I'd have a hard time voting for Gingrich even though he's the most intelligent. His personal life is a mess and his personal life decisions are indefensible. I'll choose Cain the Baptist over Romney the Mormon. Mormonism is still considered a cult by many as are Jehovah Witnesses.

Yes I'd consider voting for a Mormon, depending on his character and that of the opponents -- he might well be the one best fit for the job. If it were a choice between two candidates who were in other ways comparable and the first was one who claims to be Christian but shows no Fruits of the Spirit, and a Mormon after the fashion of those Mormon missionaries I occasionally run into, it would be a simple enough choice.
