But how would you know? I mean, short of them actually saying, "by the way, I'm gay, and this is my boyfriend," you're not going to know, and even then you don't have any inside information on whether they're sexually active. Unless of course they actually make a point of saying that, but in my experience, people don't tend to talk about their sexual activities or lack thereof.

David.

I didn't pose the question but I'm assuming the premise of the question is that you would be privy to this information about the candidate.

And lets just be real. If there is anything like that going on in someone's life, you're gonna find out because it makes for salacious news. the media is cut throat.

If they can make snow flurries into Winter Storm 2007, they can make a national headline out of a candidate's homosexual trysts.

How does it NOT matter?

Take for instance a Rudy Giuliani. He's an adultering, parade his mistress around, divorce his wife, marry his mistress jerk who believes in a woman's right to kill a child.

Why would I trust someone like that to be a person of honor and character in making decisions that affect my life?

Same thing with any other candidates life. If you show yourself to lack character and Christ-centric morals, why would I as a Christian expect you to honor me and my wishes when you willfully disrespect and disobey Christ without repentance?
Ronald Reagan was an adulterer

Would you make sure our streets were protected and our schools had good teachers and our sewers worked? If so, you could call sin whatever you liked. ;)

I'm not talking about "homosexual trysts", I'm talking about a candidate being in a monogamous - possibly married - relationship. And yeah, you'd probably know that such a relationship existed, whether heterosexual or homosexual. What you wouldn't know is the exact nature of the relationship, whether the couple are sexually active or not. Since we're not privy to that information, are we really qualified to make judgement calls on it?

If he's gay and in a "marriage" relationship with someone of the same sex, then no, I wouldn't vote for him because we obviously have different moral standards.

If they are not having sex, then they should identify as friends and not two people in a relationship together.

And if they tell me they are in a relationship together, I would ask them to clarify what that means and if they are having sexual relations with each other.

Likewise, neither would I vote for a heterosexual candidate who was living with his girlfriend even if they said they weren't having sex.

Would you go to a gay doctor?

If his ability to practice medicine hinges upon moral vs medical decisions, then nope, I wouldn't go to him.

A gay minister who like other gay "Christians" who affirm same-sex sex has no witness. There is nothing that he could say about sin that wouldn't come across as hypocrisy.

So it's only a "relationship" if they're having sex?

That doesn't really make sense.

And if they tell you that it's really none of your business?

Likewise, neither would I vote for a heterosexual candidate who was living with his girlfriend even if they said they weren't having sex.

So in other words, you're happy to assume the worst? :(

David.
