  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Would you like to see a NASB, NKJV, CSB, and whatever translation you use most available with the Deuterocanon available?

The NLT, RSV, ESV, NRSV, KJV, and a number of other Protestant managed translations are already available with the Deuterocanon included.

I cannot think of anything important in the deuterocanonical books that would change a Christian life, morals or theology. To be honest, I have a similar opinion about many canonical OT books, too.

So, it could be interesting, but its not too necessary, IMO. Who is interested can find them online or in other translations, if its not in the one he/she currently uses.

If the Protestant Translators wanted to include the Apocryphal books - they would have, they also would no longer be Protestant. Considering that fact, and the audience who uses them do not refer to than as Canon - it would be superfluous and unneeded. It people have the desire - they can find equivalents from our Roman Catholic brothers already.

As someone who used to use the NASB more regularly, that'd be cool to have.

I currently use the ESV, and my physical copy contains the Deuterocanonicals already.

Lutherans have historically always had the Deuterocanonicals in our Bibles.

Perhaps a definition of "Protestant" would be in order here. Are Lutherans Protestant?
