I just never heard a agnostic preacher before..
I understand agnostic as being not sure God exists. I agree we believe and assume God exists and I accept the existence of God is not a proven fact. I guess that makes me an agnostic. But I do believe God exists and that Jesus was a messenger from God giving us divine truth. I think that makes me a Christian--if I try to follow the teaching of Jesus. So I guess I am a Christian Agnostic.

In relation to this thread, I happened to come across a similar thread in General Theology (I'm not allowed to post there though).

http://www.christianforums.com/t7639033/

Is 98cwitr for real, or is he trolling? I honestly cannot tell.

I think this was started over another thread about whether Christians are bound by the law in some way... the idea was, if we are under OT law then we better start stoning blasphemers.

Your sarcasm detector was malfunctioning... either that or your post above was sarcastic, and mine isn't working lol

So what would God have done if the man just let the Ark fall and shatter, and the law and everything with broke?

Shatter? The thing was made of solid metal, not sugar glass.

That's just it; David didn't disobey any specific order. In fact, the Bible doesn't even say why God was angered; we can only assume, since the Bible doesn't say it directly. This is fact; check for yourself.

It says that it was because David counted his men. David knew this would displease God, which is why God was angered by it. The Bible even says that God doesn't just take your actions into account, but it considers your intentions. If you would have broken the Sabbath, for example, God wouldn't have been as offended if you had done it by accident.

For actions that caused NO harm to society.

My point still stands. God killed those people Himself. He didn't ask somebody to do it for Him.

This is the last time I respond to your questions (in this thread), only because I don't want to break any forum rules, and drag this to a debate.

Fine. But I'm still going to point out that you're wrong.

God killed those people Himself.

God is as much as a hypocrite as he is a killer.
(meaning he is neither)

Whats with all the double mindedness?

A: God is loving and peaceful!
B: Gods full of wrath and murder!
Grumpy Old Man:
Me: :o

Peace.

Looks like you need to learn the difference between murder, war, and justice. The three are not equal.

God loves and He hates. The two do not contradict. To love one thing completely, you must hate whatever is opposed to it.

God's peace is not peace on earth. Peace will never exist on earth as long as there's people in it. It's peace between Himself and His children. God's wrath is His just anger against the world. His mercy is His holding back His righteous anger from the ones who deserve it.

If your not convinced your not a believer and can not be a Christian.

You are simply agnostic.

because not being convinced, how can you be sure Jesus is the correct way?

We as "Christians" are convinced.

That is the difference.

I find laughable to see agnostics preaching the Bible or the gospel to believers lol.

Peace

Lets say someone set out to obey Deut. by executing the people that God commanded to execute. That person then gets arrested and now your on the jury.

This person is charged for say.....idk 40 murders. The defendant is able to show that the 'victoms' were in fact guilty of the crimes in which Deut. commands to execute such offenders.

Is the defendant guilty or not guilty?

guilty. guilty as sin.

Deuteronomy never intended the "shall-be-put-to-death" instructions to be enacted. It's a hypobolic way of saying "this is very, very, bad - it damages the community. Don't do it."

:amen: and AMEN

(Maybe people will be able to "see it" now?)

I'm discussing the story, as if it were true

I don't think it really matters what the beliefs and religious practices of the people who were alive before the flood were. Genocide is never the correct answer. Why didn't God send someone to talk to them and tell them they were doing wrong?

Ok, change your motive to discussing it simply because it's there, and must have some meaning. Now compare:

"Noah the eighth [person], a preacher of righteousness" (2 Peter 2:5)

It seems you have missed the whole point of the story ...

Those are rhetorical questions

Nope, not rhetorical; THE most basic element of the story :) That "pure milk" I've been encouraging you to seek out, and focus on. G-d set an alarm clock at 120 years. People could repent any time within that limit, and the flood would've been stayed. Noah warned them during this time. He was quite the spectacle, and people came to ogle ...

The Bible gives us nothing to work with as to why God resorted to genocide straight away

False. He tells us exactly.

for some reason the OT Yahweh resorted to devastating and destructive judgements rather than talk to people.

You've heard the term "revisionist history?"

Look for the parallel between these 2 paragraphs you wrote:

I suppose it's probably hard for you to understand my position. If he's an ex-Christian, why is he here bothering us? This is what you're basically asking right? Look at it this way; I had my eyes opened by reading about evolution and science and how the world really works and this wasn't easy to grasp, given that I believed "God did everything" magically somehow (I was a YEC). My worldview changed suddenly, and now I'm stuck wondering which parts of the Bible are true, how we know they're true and whether we can prove they're true.

Of course, I can't prove I'm not trolling. I'm afraid you'll just have to take me at my word.

See my point? Now I can tell you're not trolling, via discernment. And I appreciate the difficulty of the struggle for you. And that you may need a "hand up" here and there. You still need to look for a toehold, in the process of taking that leap of Faith. (Small steps are preferable, keeping a sure foothold)

Absolutely. If God commands you to do something, you sure better do it. You may not want to do it, and you have free will to decline or not, but I'm sure God's wrath won't be too far off. Just make sure that it is God commanding you, and not Satan or his demons. Test the voice, and make sure it is coming from God. If in doubt, don't do anything. God has his ways and I'm sure if it is really Him, He will make you know it with certainty.
