What's wrong with following the good things Jesus taught? Just because I'm agnostic doesn't mean I reject everything in the Bible.
I just never heard a agnostic preacher before..

What's the point of the Bible in the first place if you are just using it to confirm your previous value system?
I understand agnostic as being not sure God exists. I agree we believe and assume God exists and I accept the existence of God is not a proven fact. I guess that makes me an agnostic. But I do believe God exists and that Jesus was a messenger from God giving us divine truth. I think that makes me a Christian--if I try to follow the teaching of Jesus. So I guess I am a Christian Agnostic.I just never heard a agnostic preacher before..
In relation to this thread, I happened to come across a similar thread in General Theology (I'm not allowed to post there though).

Is 98cwitr for real, or is he trolling? I honestly cannot tell.
So what would God have done if the man just let the Ark fall and shatter, and the law and everything with broke?
That's just it; David didn't disobey any specific order. In fact, the Bible doesn't even say why God was angered; we can only assume, since the Bible doesn't say it directly. This is fact; check for yourself.
For actions that caused NO harm to society.
This is the last time I respond to your questions (in this thread), only because I don't want to break any forum rules, and drag this to a debate.
God killed those people Himself.
God is as much as a hypocrite as he is a killer.
(meaning he is neither)
Whats with all the double mindedness?
A: God is loving and peaceful!
B: Gods full of wrath and murder!
Grumpy Old Man:
Me: :o
Peace.

Um... several of them outright said they'd be on board with killing someone if a voice that professed to be God ordered them to murder.
Go back and read them.
Lets say someone set out to obey Deut. by executing the people that God commanded to execute. That person then gets arrested and now your on the jury.
This person is charged for say.....idk 40 murders. The defendant is able to show that the 'victoms' were in fact guilty of the crimes in which Deut. commands to execute such offenders.
Is the defendant guilty or not guilty?
Deuteronomy never intended the "shall-be-put-to-death" instructions to be enacted. It's a hypobolic way of saying "this is very, very, bad - it damages the community. Don't do it."
I'm discussing the story, as if it were true
I don't think it really matters what the beliefs and religious practices of the people who were alive before the flood were. Genocide is never the correct answer. Why didn't God send someone to talk to them and tell them they were doing wrong?
Those are rhetorical questions
The Bible gives us nothing to work with as to why God resorted to genocide straight away
for some reason the OT Yahweh resorted to devastating and destructive judgements rather than talk to people.
I'm glad I live in Canada. We're a much more relaxed people. We're not fanatical, fundamentalist or out to kill every abortion doctor, Muslim or homosexual, unlike the U.S.
guilty. guilty as sin.
I suppose it's probably hard for you to understand my position. If he's an ex-Christian, why is he here bothering us? This is what you're basically asking right? Look at it this way; I had my eyes opened by reading about evolution and science and how the world really works and this wasn't easy to grasp, given that I believed "God did everything" magically somehow (I was a YEC). My worldview changed suddenly, and now I'm stuck wondering which parts of the Bible are true, how we know they're true and whether we can prove they're true.
Of course, I can't prove I'm not trolling. I'm afraid you'll just have to take me at my word.
