I don't believe God ever told anyone to kill anyone. I also do not believe God ever killed anyone. God is life--not death. If God tells you to kill someone---it is not God.

i agree...look at the example of King David. even though God had promised him that he would succeed Saul as king, and even though Saul was trying to assasinate David, David would not kill Saul or even harm him. God fulfilled His promise, and David did not have to murder Saul.

There is an awfully large amount of talk about wisdom in this thread, but no actual wisdom. For those of you who say this question is pointless or a trap and refuse to answer, all you're really doing is avoiding the issue. OP is trying to do what most of us say we try to do, get us to think about what we believe. So think about it, why is this question pointless, answer it.

I'm a Christian, God saved me about 13 years ago. I believe in Jesus and all that the Bible says about Him, (He was born of a virgin, and this is necessary for salvation) because it's what God has given us so that we can know what He wants us to know. I haven't read the entire thread, I've read maybe half of it. Honestly I got sick of hearing the issue not being dealt with and "Christians" not using wisdom of God's word to answer OP's question.

First off, I'm just going to make this simple and say, "NO!"

Now I'll qualify it. God talked to Abraham, God talked to David, God talked to Ezekiel, God talked to Paul, God does not talk to me, at least not in the same way that He does to these men. I've been a Christian for 13 years, not once has God ever "talked" to me. I've never heard a voice that wasn't my own in my head. Can God talk to me? Yes, He certainly can, but he doesn't. Does God talk to other Christians today? No, I don't believe that He does. I don't believe that He does because He doesn't need to any more, we have His word and that's all we need to live our lives of godliness.

What you're really asking though isn't the right question. What your question is actually asking is, "If God isn't who He says He is and then tells you to do something that He would never actually tell you to do, like kill someone, would you do it?"

People's assumption is that God isn't who He says He is. We don't believe in Him. We believe in what we want to believe because we/re smarter and more enlightened than anything we could ever read in a book that's 2000ish years old, at the youngest. So, our wrong assumptions about God is what makes us ask this question. Is God good, yes, he's all that is good. Has God killed his creation, yes, many times. Did they deserve it yes, according to who God is and what He represents they all deserved to die. Not only did "they" deserve to die, so does everyone else, everyone.

Another assumption is our standards, in this day and age, of morality are higher than God's. Our scientific understanding proves that God doesn't know what He's talking about. Just because there's never been any pottery found in the wilderness that 2 million Jews didn't walk around it for 40 years. Because no ark has been found, Noah never existed.

I do believe that OP is right in saying that the Bible is able to be understood on an intellectual level. The problem is that we can not do what the Bible says or believe what it says without some spiritual help, because we are spiritually dead. You can intellectually understand that those who do not believe in the Gospel count it as foolishness, but without some spiritual help you won't believe in the Gospel, all of it. God's wisdom is foolishness for us who think we're more wise than Him.

I have more to say, feel free to respond, I'm just out of time right now. I know this thread is a year old though.

The OP was perma-banned long ago for being disruptive, and never giving up his wrong questions of this nature. Pray for him. God may be working in his heart ...

Easily. We must do the will of god. Abraham was ready to sacrifice Isaac and that is the faith you must have. He loved his son and was saddened by the request but he put all his faith in god and his divine will. I have faith that god is acting in the best interest of humanity and I will not get in his way.

Dear Grumpy Old Man. Abraham `s situation was an obvious test to Abraham, Abraham knew that God needed Isaak to fulfill a great promise, and would have to keep Isaak alive, or bring him back to life again. God is NO KILLER.
I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

That's actually a pretty poor example. David didn't kill Saul because he was an annointed king. Thus appointed by God. About God not killing anyone. Look at Sodom and Gommorah. Remember God from the OT, is the same as the God of the NT. We might not like that He is just, righteous and He is The Judge, but that doesn't change that truth. Also see the OT laws, where the laws speak of people being stoned.
