I'm assuming you're referring to illegal drugs, not nicotine, etc.

Uh...drugs are illegal. A person who habitually buys/uses/sells drugs is a constant criminal, endangering themselves and others around them. Drug addicts can be violent, psychotic, unpredictable, unable to hold a job, in and out of prison. That would be like asking if you'd date/marry someone who is a career thief, rapist, or murderer.

not a chance. I would gladly date someone who is recovering, or who has already recovered from drug problems (I recovered from an addiction to marijuana myself). But someone who continues to use, I will not allow them into my life in an intimate way.

No. Besides the whole idea that I wouldn't want to date someone consistently breaking the law, drug addictions can make people do very destructive things. I don't want that in my life. A recovering addict is a different story.

I mentioned illegal drugs, but it just occurred to me that, duh, alcohol is legal. I would not date someone currently struggling with an alcohol addiction. I've seen how ugly things can get when with an alcoholic (my former step-father was/is a violent alcoholic) and I am so not interested in that.

Nicotine addiction is something I don't have firm stance on. I would prefer to date someone who doesn't smoke, but if they would make sure to not smoke around me, then maybe I would date a smoker. I'm not interested in developing health problems from someone else's addiction. Not that I want to watch someone I care about develop health problems as they inhale toxins. Yeah, I'm a little torn on this subject.

i wouldn't date an alcoholic. smoker... no. I did that and it was the same deal you see with a lot of other addicts. always promising to quit but always finding ways to justify it. Thats not something i want in my life either.
