I honestly don't know if I would since I think this is way too young to let this kind of decision be in their hands. It was a tough situation altogether though. :(

Of course individuals should be able to make healthcare decisions for themselves.
What is the alternative? Listen to a doctor and do what they advise?
After exposure to enough physicians, I'd never give other people control.
They fail to even understand what is going on, a lot. Likely there is not
one other doctor who understands what this girl has been through half
as much as her parents.

Doctors, as well as the general public, are just advisors.
