As I study the Pharisees, they had the scrolls and were the leader's people looked up to. They have added their own man-made rules to the Torah and even had some paganism involved. As I see their character they were prideful, even hypocrites and greedy since they charged unfair rates for people to worship in the temple or make a sacrifice. Very corrupt in those days.
As Jesus came along he rebuked the Pharisees for their corruption, and Jesus was the only one that fulfilled the prophecies in Isaiah. He has done miracles right in front of the Pharisee's eyes yet they attributed Jesus work to the work of Satan. And even tried to lead people away from Jesus.
Were the Pharisees blind to the scriptures? Or did they know for 100% that Jesus was the messiah but they refused to repent and disregarded him?
I can't think of a reason why someone would reject the Messiah their own very God when they know it is him.
