Google "Duolingo". It's free with no obligations. I'm only at level 10 right now, but I'm having a blast working a little each day and I'm understanding more and more all the time!

P.S. Hallo, alle meine deutschen Freunde!

Interesting, thanks for the info. I'm going to try it out. I like how they have a tiered skill tree system. Intriguing.

I am currently working on a translation of a renaissance theologian manuscript. would love to learn German with someone who can make the language interesting. :)
I highly recommend the program, "Rosetta Stone". I have a friend who's currently learning French through that method and they're fantastically accurate after just two months of practice. :)

The best way to learn any language is by immersion. I know this can sometimes be difficult to do, but I recommend finding a local German-language school or community and seeing if you can take lessons there. I agree - find your local Goethe Institut and ask them.

My wife recently gifted herself Rosetta Stone learning program for French.
I'd highly recommend that route for self-learning. She's a quick learner in the first place and after just two weeks she's well on her way.

They do offer the German language course too. Link for you.

They even offer a free demo so you can see how you like it before making the investment. Link for you. This is what sold my wife on buying the French program.

Best wishes to your pursuit.

Ich spreche kaum Deutsche :) ....I find that Rosetta Stone works for the individual words, but it would be best to learn the grammar part in a German class. Rosetta Stone is still a very good program though. Good luck in your language-learnin' endeavors!
