  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'd say Yugi-oh. I just never got how a simple card game could hold so much at stake.
If you think Yugioh is bad, try sitting through a couple episodes of Bakugan Battle Brawlers. Talk about drama. At least Pokemon doesn't claim that the world depends on a card match.

I watched the Japaneese version of naruto but I couldnt watch the show unless i read the subtitles which got pretty annoying...
You get used to subtitles after a while. Most of the stuff I watch anymore these days is subtitled-only, or at the very least, I've specifically turned on the Japanese+subs to avoid having to hear the dubs. I've just gotten sick and tired of hearing the same small pool of English voice actors over and over and over again, ad nauseam. I do make exceptions at times, but it's pretty few and far between anymore (particularly with classics from my childhood, but wanting to hear those dubs is more of a perverse nostalgia, except for Robotech).

Worst animes i've seen:

Cutey honey [too much dirty stuff]
Sailor moon [why, o why did naoko have to make that evil thing]
KoR [Kimagure Orange road]: BOOOOOORING!

Some aren't even worth mentioning.

I know I may be attacked by some people here from saying this *lol* but I don't like Dragonball Z at all or any animes that are just about fighting.

nah. such animes are more like farces. Farces are comedies that consist of nothing but everyone getting beaten up, just for the sake of pointing out human stupidity.

Only 2 words for anyone who watches and truly enjoys that stuff:

"HELD. BACK!"

Besides, if i'm gonna watch 2 guys vie for physical supremacy, i'll go over to my friend's house and watch WWE with him. At least then we can make MST3k style cracks out the fighters and have fun hating it.

Not exactly so. Monty Python is a prime example of farce, and most of that would go right over such audiences' heads.

true, but at least the humor in monty python is done in good taste. Anime that is nothing but fighting [like DB/DBZ/DBGT and naruto] is just dull... same plot, just emphasized each time more than the last.

Welcome to the world of shounen action series, in other words. Or more specifically the ones intended for 10-13 year olds. The crop of shows* for ~14-16 tend to be much less tournament-oriented and tiptoe closer to being seinen. Some straddle that barrier between pre-/early and middle teens too - I can't stand Naruto, but I do enjoy Bleach, and would argue that it's not nearly as patently annoying while still being firmly a shounen series (although, granted, I keep up with the manga for Bleach more than the anime, which likely influences that - the Bleach anime tones down the violence and 'clothing choices' a lot more).

*still talking exclusively about action series here; even though most of the 10-13 age range is composed of mostly action and/or comedy, there's a lot for 14+ that aren't and start heading into the romance and drama areas, but would still be categorized as shounen or the light side of seinen.

Also Bleach avoids the irritating tournament arcs that seem to dominate such shounen shows as Naruto.:p Also the characters have much more depth to them than in your average shounen.

Hentai anime is awful, obviously.

Most of the anime for kids doesn't do much for me either, though.

I unfortunately stumbled upon that too, and i think it is the worst ever without even watching.
I would stay away from anything tagged "hentai"

Kimagure Orange Road... rather boring, almost 1 big chick flick. Plot : 1 normal guy who has 2 sisters with ESP-like abilites is literally got a crush on a local tough girl/Tsundere called "Madoka the pick", but Madoka's friend [name unknown] is going goo-goo over him. I was so bored that I requested that the series be burned onto CD's for the people who actually LIKED it and something more interesting be shown [even if it was cutey honey [a series that has too much nudity and bad taste for me]
