Eby - I'd just like to pray for you...
Father - thank you for changed lives. Thank you that no person is beyond your arm of salvation. Thank you that you rescue us out of our sins, not because we deserve it, not because we've worked hard to be holy - you rescue us because you delight in us. Your love abounds much more than ANY sin - if not, then we all perish. Father, your grace abounds to this child of yours. Teach him to stand in it. By Your Spirit fill him with all power to walk in a manner worthy of the grace that You have lavished upon him. Teach him to resist the enemy, standing firm in his faith, with Your truth, Your righteousness, Your Peace, his mind guarded by the salvation that You have bought and paid for with the precious blood of the Lamb. Fill his mouth with Your word to wield the sword of truth against the lies of the enemy and fill Him with faith to stand against the accusations of the adversary and the accusations and condemnation of his own flesh. Call him to Your throne of grace that he might run boldly to You in full assurance of faith, confessing all that might hinder him from abundance and victory, and then shower him with the grace and mercy that You promise to give in his time of need. Restore him to a powerful life in Your Spirit and make him strong, firm and steadfast. To You alone be the power and glory forever and ever. Amen.

**I'm in agreement that it is not "required" that we ask for forgiveness once we have received full forgiveness of sin - but God does not admonish us to QUIT asking for forgiveness of sins anywhere either. Confession (agreeing with God) and repentance (turning our back on our sin and walking in the righteousness that is ours in Christ) are necessary for us to walk in the freedom purchased for us in Christ. Many people feel the need to ask for forgiveness for particular sins they commit - I don't believe God despises this - I believe it is ONE of the signs of a humble heart and a desire to please God. So whether you ask or whether you don't is between you and your Lord - but standing in the forgiveness that He has bought, that He has died for... well, that we are obliged to do! For without faith (in God and in His character, work, ways...) it is impossible to please God for we must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

Eby - Stand firm in the knowledge of the grace that has been given to you and grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I must thank you for this most insightful post, and prayer. May it be a blessing to Eby. One thing I want to ask is that if you have to ask for forgiveness over and over again, are you forgiven? You ask for something you do not have.

The thing to do, after you initialy come to Christ, and accept his Love, Life, and Forgiveness, is to rest in it and thank him for it. So when you fall short, thank him for his forgiveness, and move on. In faith, walk in a dependent relationship with him, to guide you not to make the same mistake. He doesn't dwell on your sin, so why do we? He said you are forgiven, so believe it!

That all ya got? These do not negate the shed blood of Christ for the forgiveness of even this sin. Love covers a multitude of sins - even sorcery and Satan worship. There were several people in the new testament possessed by the Satan that were set free by Christ and believed on him - doubt they have a place in hell. Probably a bunch of Ephesians that would take issue with you - Acts 19:17-20 I think Eby's in good company - God is holy and He is merciful. Praise His name!

OK.
Look. I refuse to accept that Satan exists, therefore i will not be influenced by such a being. I am neither a theif nor a murderer but am guilty of sins, just like everyone else here that posts here.

If Satan exists, then he/she/it must be an insane spirit or made that way by God himself for some unfathomable purpose, either way, how many will say on the judgement day 'Satan made me do it' and not be excused? If Satan is responsible for leading people into temptation, then all the guilt and blame for every sin ever commited should be on his shoulders and therefore every person thats walked this planet will attain salvation; ie universal salvation.
I find it impossible to accept that there is no satan when the name "Satan" is mentioned in the entire Bible exactly 55 times. I will not insult your intelligence, but I will urge you to re-read the Bible and count for yourself. Starting with the OT: 18 times Satan was named.
In the NT: 37 time Satan was named.

It is abundantly clear that satan exists! I will praying for you.... you need it!

God Bless,
Brian

A year or so ago I kinda went off the rails a bit and rejecting God worshipped Satan. A few months (6 or so) I re-found God and have stayed faithful to him since then; but do you think that after rejecting God and worshipping the devil, one can recieve salvation or are they damned no matter what they do? Would God truly forgive such a thing?

Yes God would forgive such a thing.

That's interesting actually.

In the Bible, 5 is a number representing confusion and Demons - so it's kinda coincidental that The Adversary's/Satan's Name is mentioned 55 times

After some thinking I've finally come to the realisation that I am forgiven and my doubts have gone.
Thankyou to everyone who helped me see past the doubtful thoughts that I believe were being fed to me by Satan in an attempt to make me lose my way.

God, if he is just and merciful, would not let such an adversity exist. If you think at all, you would realise that an adversity to something all powerful is futility. I'm sorry ive taken so long to reply to these posts, but ive been offline at home for a number of months now, and probably won't be back online whilst well into the new year.

God gave the angels and man free will, now if He's going to terminate anyone who rebels against him what would be the point in doing so in the first place? Besides, by the same argument you could ask why God, if just and merciful, allows evil men to exist. Which he plainly does.
Satans rebelion isn't about defeating God, so far as I understand it its about his pride. Rejecting God, setting himself up as a power to be worshiped and followed. which is why satan tries so hard to keep people from God.
And most importantly the bible clearly reveals satans existance to us and his nature! there really isn't much reason for a Christian not to believe that satan exists in my opinion.
