Worrying about tomorrow vs. Planning about Tomorrow

You would be a fool not to plan for tomorrow. It is good to plan as luck favors those who are prepared. But the mistake people make is looking too far into the future and become anxiety-filled. The purpose of life is to keep Jesus at the forefront of your life, not to worry about the future. Why? Because you could be dead tomorrow! There is no time to waste on silliness.

Scripture says that fretting leads to evil, so there's that.

Also think about the man who left three servents in charge of talents and their responsibility for when he returned. Those who put their talents to use and gained more were rewarded; the servant who, worried that he might lose everything if he put his talents to use, buried them so at least he would lose none. The master, discovering this, was angry and took even those talents away.

It's not strictly a parable about maintaining a 401(k) or anything, but the implication does seem to be that we do want to make some attempt to prepare (not necessarily plan, because who knows what tomorrow may bring?) for the future.

Also, just think about agrarian society in general; it's pretty hard to sow seeds and tend crops without thinking that, in the future, something might come to fruition because of it. :)

There's a distinct difference between the two right? I know we're told not to be worried about tomorrow, but if we make plans for it, even though I know I may not ever truly see it, that much is OKAY right? I know this sounds a bit neurotic to even ask, but just some issues like this need clarification.

The best thing to do if you worry about anything is to commit the matter to prayer. Ask God to fill you with His peace and trust in Him to do so. Also, ask Him to show you what you need to do. Depending on whether you are worrying about something for no reason or whether the situation is actually likely will determine whether preparing is wise or not. If you are just acting out of fear and there is no true problem, making plans for it may actually be disobedience to God bc you are not trusting Him. This is not an easy answer since I don't know why you are worried. That is why it is always best to commit matters to prayer. Beware of fretting rather than trusting God for that does lead to evil!

Love in Christ,

Krystal

Use outlook and don't worry about it.

I find I have little timers that pop up reminders right away.

I am a planner. I am an architect. Think always on the long term. Just consider contingency plans. Consider what is best for everyone and what actually works and does not work. Consider, above all, therefore God in all your plans.

God is love, so put that into your equations about tomorrow.
