• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm having a hard time with it. My wife's job is up in the air, I may be losing a little bit of regular computer work which is about all the work I can do right now, I have a year and a half wait to see a judge for disability and my psychiatrist's nurse recently told me he can't give me samples anymore. Without those I can't afford my drugs. I may have to switch doctors which is unsettling.

My doc wanted me to reduce my antidepressant to see if it was causing problems with lethargy and see if it's working. I got so anxious I couldn't stand it and finally threw in the towel on his evil experiment (what I called it) and called him. I've been back up on the regular dose for a week but I still wake up in the morning with knots in my stomach and worried thoughts in my head. Maybe it will take longer for this to kick back in.

I haven't learned to take one day at a time. I read a LOT, pray a lot, have been learning a lot and yet I still worry. Do not fear is the command most given in the Bible, but it's the hardest to obey.

Any prayers or thoughts would be helpful.

BTW I'm reading "Reaching for the Invisible God" which is very pertinent, talking about faith and doubt. Not helping my body chemistry or runaway thoughts though.

I am so sorry! Yes it will take awhile to build the meds up in your system. About two weeks. Can you get meds from the drug companies? Find a good doctor who will make sure you get your meds. if you don't have prescription coverage, the drug companies will propably give you your meds. i will be praying.

I can't because I do have some coverage which excludes me, but not enough coverage for all my meds for a year. Some years it ran out early fall and I had to pay full price and buy from Canada. That was awful and we can't afford that this year.

Thanks for the prayers.

Thank you. I will do that when the time comes. I'm thinking about switching to a resident program where they charge with a sliding scale and they may have samples. Maybe a young gun resident psychiatrist with fresh eyes will help. But I'll see when I get to that point. For now I see my doc on July 7. This anxiety is too much.

Please pray for my appointment with my psychiatrist on Friday. Pray that he'll have wisdom in which direction to go with drugs, especially related to anxiety.

Also that I will have wisdom about whether or not this is the time to switch docs and that I'll be able to afford or be provided (samples!) the drugs that will work best for me. Thanks.

I just found out my health insurance premium is going up 45% a month. This is about the fifth big stress to happen in the last two months and I'm not doing too well to put it lightly.

Just to set the record straight, I was looking at my wife's premium number not mine, so mine didn't go up nearly as much as I thought. Whew.

I am praying for you!!! Also I was in Christian Supply yesterday and notice some cd's from Pamplin that are all instrumental praise or hymn type cd's, didn't know if those might interest you. Some in my store were $2.99, the rest were $7.99

I think the apppointment went well. We are changing some meds around again. Maybe the 19th time will be the one that sticks.

Thank you for praying.

My doctor can't provide samples anymore and I don't think we can afford him anymore so I will need to switch.

Thanks for suggestion on CDs. My MP3 player has been very valuable lately. I'm trying not to get too attached to it.

http://www.freemedicinefoundation.com/ will help you with getting free or reduced meds for a $5 fee, but you should be able to go directly to the drug manufacturer for this without a fee. If you are on the med I remember, which is the one I am on, it is made by Novartis. I am praying for you and htank you for your prayers for me!!!

"Problem" is, I have some insurance coverage for meds, but not enough to cover all my drugs for a year. Some years I went over my limit and had to buy from Canada. That was terrible. And my doctor is too expensive. I've been having to see him more and more frequently. I have to go to one who charges a sliding scale. My insurance doesn't cover doctor visits. So much to deal with.

(I'm not on the drug you are thinking of anymore.)

The more I think about the med change the more scared I get. He's having me stop the ones I'm replacing pretty much cold turkey (one very low dose and the other haven't been on very long) and starting the new one. I may be using more Ativan this week.

I'm glad your appointment went well !

Regarding your meds and your pdoc fees and such...I think it is so unfair that you folks in the USA have to pay so much out of your own pockets :( If you are looking for a new doc...I hope he's one that will give you samples of your meds !!!
