There is not a single institution that cannot be tempted into seeking worldly pursuits in both form and function, and interpretation of scripture.
To assume the contrary is both a mistake and a manifestation of how high-minded individuals in denominations that are behind the times can create havoc in those that are sincerely seeking God.

Sure, there are plenty of books to sell and conferences to sell out while professing to seek the collective good while in reality the pursuit of power, influence and Mammon are secretly sought.
Let no man or institution betray your trust in the totality of scriptural revelation and the move of the spirit in our lives and our congregations.

You sound like you've been burned fairly bad.

How do you know that said authors and conference organizers are all seeking power, influence, and Mamon?

Timothy would be warned against the same temptations that some fall before in the present day.
Some of these are prominent, most are but followers...

I'm still waiting for some sort of evidence to support your OP.

Since you said "cannot" I guess I can agree in theory. I do not believe all organizations or institutions have sold out. But the temptation is always there in the individuals, as we have a sin nature.

However, trust is so important in the body of Christ that you are better off trusting a bit too much, than not giving any trust and never experiencing fellowship, work together for the gospel etc.

Evil men will always be there. Don't throw out what God intends for His church though through fear.

I think the point is well demonstrated based on how many churches and organizations established for the purpose of spreading the Gospel and helping others find Salvation. I think the Gideons are one organization that has stayed true to the original intentions since their founding in 1899. Still - it would not surprise me if they or any other organization faltered at some point due to the temptations that the leaders fell to.
I agree that we should be wary of individuals leaning on their own understanding and falling away from the will of God, but we must not become so wary that we fail to support good causes and institutions that truly desire to follow the will of God.

Its a wonderful thing to see how many individuals and institutions come forward when it comes to doing the will of the Lord.
It doesn't always happen this way, and there are reasons for it.
The worst reason to be in the game is to have the wrong motives, to be influenced by the world, or just have a bad attitude.

I agree. But the OP said this:

Sure, there are plenty of books to sell and conferences to sell out while professing to seek the collective good while in reality the pursuit of power, influence and Mammon are secretly sought.

The implication is that this is the point of the conferences. I've asked for evidence to support this, but he's ignored me. He's only responded to those who agree with him.
