I just realized the NDA has been lifted, so here is the deal.

EQ2 is HORRIBLE! I am absolutely astonished they are shipping this game in little over a week. They just completely redid the spels and comat system. There are massive memory leaks, the servers crash every 2 hours or so (this is an improvement). I think the graphics are rather ugly, there is no style, feel or warmth to them. There is a high polygon count, but big deal, all that does is display many textures of bland, boring colors all the while dragging your frame-rate and ping to a crawl.

I highly advise that you do not purchase this game. With all the problems who know when it will be fixed. I played Star Wars Galaxies for 9 months from release, it started off better than this one and it was still a terribly bug-ridden launch. The only reason I played so long was I met great people in the game. It is over a year later and many issues identified from day 1 (heck, from beta) in SWG have still not been fixed.

Unless you are a glutton for punishment or need to play every EQ game, no matter how bad, it is best to stay away from this one. SOE gets no more of my money, ever.

Anyway, I'm interested in hearing more about EQ2

They lifted it like 10 days ago, shows how much I payed attention to the stupid game. I was busy playing WoW, ha!

I also get occasional spontaneous system reboots and frequent lockups. I'll always have a softspot for EQ because it was my 1st mmorpg but there is no way this game will be ready by Nov. 8th. If they pushed release back to Feb. '05, they would alienate fewer people than they will by releasing it they way it is on Nov. 8th. It's far from done. Hopefully, WoW open beta should be soon! WOOT!!

Yep, the clientside has major issues too. If you turned the settings up so it looked like the screenshots you wouldn't be able to move.

It should start the beginning of next week, I hope!
