I dont accept the "it's digital so it's ok" arguement based on, as others have pointed out, digital pornography and other things.
Did you read my reasoning in the post above yours as to why pornography and a game cannot be compared to each other? Porn is porn regardless of whether it is digital or on paper or on television. Magic is not magic if it isn't real. That's the difference, and it's one you need to pick up on.
Canyou do these two things and still play WoW? I know I can. To me clicking on a mouse to have a fictional character "cast a spell" is not the same as going to a pagan festival in my area and engaging in thier practices of magic. The two do not equate to the same thing in my mind. Niether do I believe that my playing a "mage" in game condones or promotes others to practice real witchcraft.
Good, this is the proper reasoning to have here.

Relax, it's just a game okay? I think you're strong enough not to think you're going to start being able to cast magic spells and summon demons in real life.
Something Satanists can do in real life, but I somehow doubt that playing World of Warcraft makes you a Satanist or a practicer of witchcraft. *rolls eyes*
Not that I'm a Satanist of course - I don't find the idea of accidentally stumbling inside a drawn pentagram and getting my ribcage crushed by unseen forces in an instant very attractive.;)

This falls perfectly into the Romans 14:14 category of things that are NOT evil. It's how you let it affect you that counts. This verse and others like it are perfect for defending things like World of Warcraft from the more overzealous Christians - something I've started doing.

I applaud your reasoning. Ladies and gentlement, someone who uses his God-given brain!!! :D

See these are issues that should be discussed, however the reality is that hundreds of lives can be saved if you join christian guild or creat your own. And the bible says to live in the world and not be of it. As long as your dad trusts you to do the right thing you have every reason to play. How can we make brothers and sisters of christ if we dont reach out to people struggling with being gay or aithiest or drugs/drinking? That kind of thing.

I have a defense against these kinds of games: TREAT THEM LIKE VIDEO GAMES!!!! Video games are not reality, although they sometimes reflect it. They're just entertainment. So long as it doesn't have a bunch of evil symbols in it, and chanting specific words isn't a goal, lol, then I say use your best judgment. But WoW? Not evil, but not entirely wholesome, either.

Uh... That stuff isn't real, either. If people on earth could actually do that, societies and governments would have been overthrown long ago by such people.

And there's nothing evil to the pentagram unless you PUT something evil to it - but that could be said of ANYTHING. A bottle of soda could be just as "evil" as a pentagram if you allow it to affect you the same way.

Reminds me of the debate over the "Devil's Crush" Turbografx game from the early 90s. It was a hell-themed pinball game, so there were multiple pentagrams and demons and a woman that turned into a snake the more you hit her, and people complained that it was a bad influence and was turning people to Satan. It was rediculous - they're just stars with circles around them. Are people that weak-minded that a simple logo makes them scream praises to the devil? Geez.

The Bible has demons and magic in it.

Demons in the spiritual possession sense, yes. Demons in the big ugly monsters that chase you and try to kill you, no.

And what magic do you speak of? Not Jesus work, I hope. His work was the divine action of God through Jesus faith in him, just as all miraculous signs in the Bible were. God's divine intervention and "magic" are two COMPLETELY different things.

What about the demons described in 23 Minutes in Hell?

Oh stop it. You can do enough of that crap on the streets without ruining a perfectly good gaming experience for people.

TheBrad, if you come back to this site, I just wanted you to know that I believe you dad is right about warcraft being evil. I think warcraft is a nice trick to get good people into witchcraft.

I think you are a nice trick to keep people away from God. People will take one look at people like you along with all your legalistic rules that are supposedly moral and not want anything to do with God because they'll think that's all there is.

I hate these overly conservative fundamentalist freaks who sit in a dark corner praying all day being scared of society and seeing/or trying to find something wrong with everything or anything in secular culture. Oh they'll say anything like, rock music is evil and promotes satan, television is evil and corrupts our youth, technology is evil and spawned from satan, Dungeons & Dragons is evil and will lead to the occult, and anything that hasn't have anything to do with Christianity is "evil". I wonder to myself why are people so dumb, and I pitty people who live their lives like this.

One might wonder why you, a proclaimed Athiest, would even bother becoming a member on a "Christian" forum.

Edit: Though, I do agree that too many Christians are quick to jump on anything and everything and proclaim it as evil.

Oh I just find it funny now and I keep on laughing epseshally what I view as dark age views.

Thats evil, thats the devils work, dont listen to that, its devils music...

I suppose its because I doubt the work of satan so much.

Or maybe its because "satan" and blaming the devil for easy is such an easy scape goat....No i didnt do it, i was influenced....devil did it....

Things such as the devil and satan escape human responcibility beause who can truely be incontrol when such a powerful bieng as the devil is doing his evil works.

This is why I pity people who use it to justify reasons of living, I dont do certain things because I know they are wrong, and when I do screw up, as all people do, I admit its my fault and not drop it on some bieng.

Eh wave a magic wand, draw a salt pentogram and repeat satan is lord with constant metal music playing while your friends play world of war craft... And I still dont think anything would happen, and in that order specifically.

And personally, if the devil gets recruitment through World of warcraft, music messaging and saying a few made up magic words, I really do not fear him, I would view him, as the digital satan, who has obviosly lost his powers because if his only way of influence is by an online game, I think his office department got smaller years ago.

Hmmm how can I get kids to turn to the darkside... metal music and drugs didnt work niether did the fox network, I know, Ill use gaming and one day we shall have rows of playstaions on the coalfires as we hack our demonic powers into them.

If it hadn't been for you meddling kids and your dog, he would have gotten away with it too!
