There are powers in Warcraft to heal people, raise the dead, produce food and drink, bring a pillar of fire down from the heavens, etc. Certainly God would never condone such evil things. :)

I hope you know it's not real. :p It's a construct of data.

Heh. WoW is set in a mythical universe, as in "not reality."
In this "not reality," called fantasy, "God" is replaced by Titans. It's a story... nothing more. I guess Lord of the Rings is evil because of magic too then.

You should not play World of Warcraft!

That being said, I play WoW and don't feel like I am engaging in magic when my toon "casts a spell". I dont feel there is anything spiritual about the game at all. The only "valid" point I saw in the OP was that about addiction. A computer is a tool just like a knife. Both and be used for purposes that better your life and both can be used for evil purposes. It's what is in your heart that God is looking at. Are you doing what you do in order to give him glory and honor? Are you doing what you do to help others? (see Greatest commandment and 2nd commandment) Are you putting the game before God?

The reason I say you should not play is you are living in your father's house and we are told that we should honor our fathers and mothers so it will go well with us in this life. If he says no then thats the end of the story. After you move out on your own you aren't required to follow his rules anymore, but you may want to strongly concider doing so anyway. If it's something you REALLY want to do then do the research on it for yourself. No one here can tell you that this game is perfectly ok for you to play. They can only tell you that this game is perfectly ok for they themselves to play as they feel no conviction about it from the Holy Spirit. If you have even the slightest twing of doubt then play it safe and dont play.

I don't think you should be allowed to play if you're under 21 years old. I'm sick of hearing the little kids on WoW babbling on about "pwning noobs" like morons.

Yes, I realize many of the "adults" do it too, but eliminating the underage crowd would shrink such childishness considerably.

As far as being evil - It's only evil if you let it become so. If you let it interfere with your relationship with God, or with your personal life (neglecting schoolwork, jobs, family, friends, God, etc) then it becomes something unhealthy.

What, you'd kick me out of WoW? And I thought we were friends...;)

I agree with an age limit, though I'd go even as low as 16. Yes, it would let in more immature people than 21, but it would also let in many more mature players. Heck, I'd even go for 18, but I know a number of people between 18 and 21 (including myself) who aren't those immature players and are sick of them ourselves.

I'll second what raven said, and also what was said somewhere above me. You should respect your parents. That doesn't mean you can't argue it, just argue it respectfully. Gather evidence, show testimonies (I'd be willing to give you mine if you thought it would help), etc. and then show your parents that it isn't evil as they say. Now, if you can't convince them, you should respect them and not play it, but if you can show them the facts in an adult manner, even if they still disagree, I think it could greatly increase their respect for your opinions.

I have question some of you are giving this guy advice why are you still doing it? He only posted twice here and that was several months ago. If you want to discuss whether the game is evil or not that makes since but I thinks it's a little odd giving advice to someone who there is 99% chance is gone for good.

You should be able to play the game. I'll elaborate later on, I don't have time right now so I'm just writing this post to have it show up in my Control Panel.

Laters,

Ark

EDIT: On second thought I don't think I'll be doing that, but on a related note, I may write an entry about it on my personal blog. Once done, I'll link to that post from here.

I would LOVE to get involved with this game, but 15 BUCKS A MONTH?!?! No thanks...

Try paying $25 a month here in New Zealand. >:|
Just be glad you don't have to pay as much as we do, but at least WE don't moan about it down here in NZ.

In any case, GET A JOB. After that, the price won't worry you so much.

The game is not evil in my opinion because I don't believe in magic or summoning demons.

I played it for about a year and then quit because I got bored of it.

I can understand where your dad is coming form considering he is a fundy but think for yourself whether you think it is right or wrong.
