  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

OK, who watched it tonight?

I was so offended by one of the judges I almost threw a tonka truck at the telly! I think it was the polish guy, not at all impressed by his rudeness. He was pulling every one down and not even giving anything constructive to say.

The American judge was pretty awful too, but not as bad. Dicko behaved himself very nicely compared to some of the others there.

My husband and I were saying that wars could start over some of the comments the judges were making to the contestants from other countries. (it was a joke) I didn't think the standard was that great. I found it very hard to think of someone who I would vote for apart from Guy. I thought the lady who sang in Arabic was very brave to do that, but I would have loved to know what she was singing. I thought she had a lovely voice too. I thought the polish girl should have picked a song that suited her age.

However I did like the guy at the end (sorry can't remember country or name, because I'm not going to vote anyway) who sang the U2 song was fantastic! He's got my pick (after Guy but we aren't allowed to vote for him anyway) Actually "It's a beautiful day" is one of my favourite songs.

Like I mean who is going to vote for other countries?

Overall I think to determine the winner is based on how the judges behaved...

If you didn't offend anyone, then thats ok...if you did, like america...lol....don't think so...

The only reason why I watched world idol, was because MAD TV did a muckup on it, and focused on simon...their impersonation of simon cracks me up....and was made even more funny when I watched the real simon today...lolololololololololololol

I think overall the whole event was marred by the judges all trying to outdo one another. It was actually quite embarrassing to watch and made me cringe at times. The Polish guy was especially bad, very unprofessional. That said I think Guy and Kelly's performances were great and I wish them well especially our boy Guy he seems very genuine. GO THE FRO!!!!

I hope it's okay that I am not from Australia but I couldn't help myself. I was talking to my friend about the show today and I just have to say that Guy was amazing. I thought he had a very very good voice. I missed the guy from Norway but from everyone else I heard that he was great. And I do agree that the judge from Poland was very unprofessional. He made it seem like a joke. I was embarassed for him. But some of the other judges were very courteous. It made me look at Simon who represented the US seem like a monster.

Thought Guy and the guy from norway were the best. The UK guy was pretty good too. Heinz from South Africa was the good looker of the bunch, but throught that he sang a little off key in parts of his song. They really saved the best till the end of the show though. Wasn't to impressed with a number of the judges, Dicko did a good job though. Got a bit of a laugh out of a few of the comments.

Everyone is going to vote down American because of the judge.

And besides when did Kelly think she can be a wanna be Aussie Tina Arena.......lol
I think he went too far, when the Canadian guy said he didn't like her performance he ripped shreds off him. How patriotic lol.

What do you mean about Kelly trying to be Tina Arena? I thought she sang an Aretha Franklin song! Or are you talking about something else? Maybe I missed something. I am not a huge fan of Kelly anyway.

I reckon the Polish judge had a list of insults that he just flung at everyone, because he really didn't comment about any of the performances at all.

Sorry, elm, I thought so too. I know you liked him, but I think he was a bore.
Know what you mean by a bore, he sang well but his style just wasn't there. At least he sang in key, alot of them were out by a long shot. I must admit though I love, the Pan Arabians voice, not that she had a chance though, not singing in English, she has such a small audience. Rumour has it thought, the different countries were able to order the telecast in whatever way they liked, to make there country look good. Guy actually sang second in the actual competion.

Kelly looked so much like Tina Arena and even sang the same style as her....don't you recon?

As for the Arabian girl, I'm not quite sure whether they would have "Arabian Idol" because that would spew out more terrorism with the word "Idol".....

I didn't really notice her looking like Tina Arena. The sad thing is, that I liked her performance, the American judge put me off though, because of how he treated the other people. Even the look on Kelly's face said, "you've gone too far mate"

As for the Arabian, they probably called it a different name. A friend who was visiting France at the time they had French Idol, said it was the same thing, but it was called, Search for a French Star. Much nicer name I think.
