  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello there,

Is there anyone out there who works from home? If so, what job is it? I am wondering if there are any legit companies that hire people to work from home. There are alot of work from home scams out there and am just wondering what people who work from home know and where they found their job.
Thanks

I think there have been a few threads on the topic. There are some of us here that work from home.

You are so right - it is really difficult to find a legit company to work for from home. I always suggest to people that they try and find a local company that is willing to let them work from home. For example if you are looking for secretarial type work see what companies in the area are hiring and make a proposal - it's worth asking...I wish there were more of them that would let people work from home.

If you want to work on your own (ie: be your own boss) have you looked at a website like Elance? Companies post projects that you can put a proposal in for. I'm not sure what sort of skills you have but they have different sections, like admin, writing, web design etc. It appears confusing at first but when you know what the process is it's actually really simple. It's a gem of a website for mothers wanting to earn some extra cash. www.elance.com

Hope you find something nice!

I'm studying to get my degree as a wedding consultant. It takes some leg work at first, but before too long most of it can be done from home. If I need to meet with a client I plan to meet them either in the evening after hubby gets home or on the weekends.

I've tried AVON and Mary Kay, neither of them works unless you have a lot of friends and family with a lot of money.

I work from home as a writer. I have three writing positions - two of them I found on Craig's List, and one of them I found through word of mouth. All three jobs are real companies that happen to have online positions for writers. I think the best thing to do in working from home is to first decide what you want to do, then try to find something in your field. Craig's List is a pretty good resource, as is WAHM.com.

I work from home freelancing graphic design and writing. It just sort of happened. I knew a long time ago I wanted to be my own boss so I chose an educational path that would lead me there. Now, I'm exploring some other nominal options as a bookseller that would just give me a little extra money to basically get coffee with my girlfriends and stuff like that.

One thing that might work for you would be an online bookstore. My parents did this full time for several years (and now do it part time) and brought in roughly $30-40k/year selling books on Amazon.com. They would just buy books at library sales and thrift stores, then turn around and sell them for a profit.
