  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm starting a work placement next week on Wednesday in a CofE Primary Academy and I'm worrying that I'll do or say something wrong because I've not been a Christian very long and am still learning about my Lord, I'm going to be working with the foundation class as a TA and I'm not too sure what to do ect

Has anyone got any advice on how to start off on the right foot with the people I'll be working with and the right way to speak to them?

Thanks

Honestly, I wouldn't worry. Being a CofE school, one would hope that they care about your personal betterment as well as your spiritual betterment. If you say something out of ignorance on the subject then I highly doubt they're going to scold you for it.

It will take years, decades or maybe even a lifetime to know anywhere close to enough to where we rarely or never slip up. We can't know everything and no one's perfect. As long as you show a willingness to learn both professionally, academically and spiritually, I am sure they'll be more than understanding if you happened to say something they disagreed with or, if said with ill will at heart, took offence to.
