For a start off it is fundamental to the nature of the Creator. All of creation relies on Him for its existence both as creator and as sustainer.
But more than that its what He created us for. We in relationship with Him, He in relationship us, we in relationship with one another.
The whole Old covenant thing was modelled on a marriage relationship, the 10 commandments are a picture of both vertical and horizontal relationships, the New covenant is all about relationship, both with our Father and our family in Him.
Good relationship is founded on Trust and (Agape) Love.

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. (1 John 4)

Its supposed to be an expression of the Spirit of Christ within us rather than something we try to live up to. It's not what you do that saves you:

2nd Tim 1:9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity,

Romans 4:2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God

Phillipians 3:9 and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,

Two points fundamental to Christianity: 1) It's impossible to be saved without grace. 2) Grace is resistible. To put it another way: 1) God, alone, saves. 2) God won't force salvation upon man.

Every Christian has to travel a different path (salvation) even if the destination is the same. God opens the way, but he doesn't walk it for you. Okay, sometimes he carries you.

As to why other people do what they do, you'd have to ask them.

1. It seems like we are in control of Gods plans. Odds are low.
2. We must do the work of "letting God" do the work.
3. Keeping busy I guess.

Have you read Scripture lately, from 2000 years ago?:

"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." Eph 4

I wasn't talking about false doctrine or personal opinions-there are plenty of those. But there can only be one faith, one Christianity; Jesus didn't come to reveal and establish any more than that.

Because of free will everyone Salvation is in their hands. Jesus made it possible for men to reconcile to the Father but only if they fulfill the conditions of the New Everlasting Covenant. Jesus called sinners into repentance (Gospel of Repentance) Jesus did not specify how we should repent...He left it up to us to choose what works best for each one of us.

In Ezekiel God taught us that men can only be saved by their own righteousness. And God also said Righteousness does not extend to family members. He used as examples men of great faith Noah, Daniel and Job. Jesus did not come to abolish righteousness....He came to show us the way on how we can become righteous as those men so like them we can claim salvation in the flesh and (Noah, Daniel, Job) who lived out their fullness of days in the face and threat of great destruction. If one can save oneself by their own righteousness in this world it carries on with them in the Spiritual world.
Ezekiel 14:1 - Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.
Ezekiel 14:16 - Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor
daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate. (Great Destruction)

Working out our own Salvation is doing right by God's right. We repent until we hear God's voice in all things. It means not doing what we think is right but doing what God says to us is right. That is the definition of righteousness that is acceptable to GOD. Doing right based on our own knowledge of good and evil is filthy rags.

Yes. That's what scripture teaches.

Salvation. It is a constant struggle to resist sin but those who love God above all else will cooperate with God's grace by doing good and shunning evil. Those who continue to do good will go to Heaven while those who sin will go to Hell.

I never heard of anyone doing that. Not sure why anyone would try as it's not possible.

if a man saves one soul, thus he saves all souls in the long term, because the eternity is a circle of existence and positions of the souls, every soul will be in the place of any other, and will have the same destiny that the other soul had, experiencing all those things that the other experienced - in the same order and sequence - this will happen eternity after eternity in the course of the time's infinity
