  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I use to work for a large nationwide company that had a huge party for everyone in the district every month. It was usually held at a large bar, with free drinks. It was pretty much expected that you go to the party unless you had a real good reason not to. There was always a catered buffet and an open bar, with the party lasting from 7pm to midnight. Pretty much everyone but myself would get fall down drunk, that being their goal from the beginning.
Would you go to this type of an event.

There should be no harm in going, in and of itself, from a christian or non christian POV.
I mean, you're not getting falling-down-drunk, right?
Remember, "in the world, but not of the world". At the party but not taking part in that which is wrong for you.

Personally, were I at one like that and people started getting falling-down-hammered, Id just roll my eyes in disgust and leave.
For you, it might be a good idea to have a "real good reason" to leave early in place ahead of time.

I did quite frequently when I worked for First Union.

Now, as a musician, I work in bars a couple of times a month.

If for no other reason then to make it clear that I do not support this type of behavior I would not attend. I would also discuss the issue with my supervisor and explain that I feel it unfair to have this at a bar when you are opposed to being there and that this means that you cannot enjoy the same benefits as the rest of the company. God has called us to be seperate from such behavior and my being there would send a message of condoning this behavior. $.02
